Thanks for confirming your hypocrisy.

Was this a response? Why do people sit there? I wouldn't.

I freely answered why I would read the questions....instead of replying in kind you're in some kind of "gotcha" mode. I'm wounded that you think I'm a hypocrite. However, my guess is that our definitions of the word are somewhat different. I think it's hypocritical (and hyper-critical as well) to brag that you sit close to the bench and in the same breath ***** about what you hear from your "special seats".

You can't. Just like when you go to a basketball game and you have seats in a certain area, you can't avoid hearing certain things, especially if it is at a venue that is not well attended and the crowd noise is minimal.

So, there has been no pattern of behavior from the coach over the past however many years? Other posters have said that they've been hearing it for years.

Put it this way...I don't listen to comedy routines from Andrew Dice Clay because I know what they are going to be like. If they know what they're going to hear, and keep purchasing those seats year after year, it's disingenuous to ***** about it.

But then how would they be able to hold their noses up at everyone else with their primo seats?

I can see ISU and BF winning this discrimination case and end up with Bill retiring.

I agree with this statement and will swap my 6 seats on the lower level opposite side for those seats (gizzdad & Tornado man) behind the bench. Since you dislike setting there so much just let the ticket office know you want to sit somewhere else.

Is it disingenuous to report what is heard? At a venue like Hilton that has good WBB crowds, you probably have to be close to the ISU bench to hear Fennelly. You ask for evidence of what is being said, but when the people who are in position to provide such evidence report what they have heard, you accuse them of bragging about their seats and being hypocrites because they continue to sit where the can hear what is going on.

IMO, it's pretty sad that people who enjoy watching a particular sport have to consider giving up a prime viewing venue because a coach can't refrain from using demeaning and shocking language. Especially when that coach claims to be a family values coach.

Not sure if CF needs a mediator, group therapy, multiple straight jackets, some moody bullying, or some CBF profanity.

More comments from people without specific information. My hope is this goes to court if not thrown out before so these people who have made non-specific comments have to then make them under oath. Is CBF a tough/hard coach on players, for sure. I ask anyone to name a coach of a successful womens'/mens' team that is not tough at some time. I doubt that anyone who has played sports past beginning little kids programs have had coaches who were as a few on here like to say were an A**.

The impression I am getting from all this (and I haven't read all this thread) is that CBF sounds a lot like Bobby Knight, minus the chair throwing.

I sit right behind the behind the bench and have never heard him yell ****.

While I have never specifically heard the "C" word, I would not be shocked if he has used it. His language goes way beyond salty, to degrading and dehumanizing. In the 18 years I have been sitting in the section, I have heard most of the women in the section gasp at some of his utterances hundreds of times. A few just shake their heads and smile uncomfortably. Even his assistants visibly move away from him and avert their gazes when he really blows. Realizing this may help some of you understand why Jessica Schroll's dad and CBF nearly came to blows right before she transferred.

That being said, while I would never allow my daughter or any relative to play for him, I don't believe he has a racist bone anywhere in his body.

One other thing to those who feel the officials would have lit him up upon hearing certain words. While almost all rules books allow for giving techincals for unsporting conduct, I have never seen one leveled against any coach for something he said to his/her own players/staff. I have officiated three sports at the HS level, and one as high as the D1 level. Never seen it - ever.

Which one of them heard the word "c***"? Apparently the "always accurate" Cyclone "Tornado Man" indulged in a bit of hyperbole...

I have not argued the fact that Fennelly has a gentle or family friendly sideline demeanor. What I am questioning is, given the fact that we all know he hollers & uses language some of us wouldn't use, why do people choose to sit close to him instead of in another part of the venue where they can still watch the games but their tender ears won't be assailed?

At any rate...none of this has anything to do with whether or not the coach was racist in his methods. And that includes the article just linked a few posts back. All any of us has proven is that he is something of a hardass...not that he was racist.

Didn't Brynn already come out in support of CBF, and now her Mom is trying to half *** throw him under the bus?

IIRC, Brynn said that she and the coach butted heads (my words) but that she felt she left a stronger person. She also said that she didn't feel the criticisms and angry words directed toward her from the coach were racially motivated. To me, it looks like Mom is saying much the same thing, but from a protective Mom point of view.

I haven't quite figured out what gizzsdad was trying to prove with the link. That tends to happen when people post a link with no accompanying commentary...

This probably is a different situation since gizzsdad has already weighed in with a strong opinion on this issue, however I will sometimes post a link or information in a highly charged debate intentionally without commentary to give real facts to the posters when a lot of misinformation or erroneous assumptions are coming from both sides of the argument.

I don't think that anyone has argued that Bill doesn't use profanity during games. It was argued that he was shouting "c***" at ISU players during games and that everyone who sits around the ISU bench has heard it. That poster says that they sit behind the bench and has never heard it.

It's Tornado Man, man.

I believe that we all agree that while he is not everyone's cup of tea, he's not a racist.

I saw BF one time and he looked like he was thinking the c-word...I'm fairly sure he was based on the expression on his face...yes, he was thinking it, now that I think about it more. I'll bet he even said it right after I wasn't around. He said it really loud and many other people heard it, probably. I'm going to have to find them...hang on.

Also, he was thinking some terrible thoughts too. Very terrible ones. I could clearly imagine them in his head. I'll see if other people heard...I mean saw...I mean, if they even know what the **** they are talking about.

I just wanted to have a post semi-relevant to the conversation that seems to have been going on for the past few pages of posts. I think it's about as accurate as the others.

Bill isn't stupid. And I just find it really hard that he said these things in large groups of people (and in group texts?!) where there can be multiple witnesses. You'd have to be a ******* moron to do that.

Also, I want point out that there's a HUGE difference from saying "all you do is *****" and calling someone a *****.

Mom went half n half and Brynn followed like a day later with support to Fennelly if I got the timetables right. The linked article is few days old.
