There has to be accountability for FB hires. And for that I'd give Pollard an overall grade of B instead of A. Still enough to keep his job, given that he seems to do be doing most other aspects of his job quite well. But certainly not enough to warrant the legendary athletic director status that some elevate him to.

Pollard is not getting fired for the FB hires. Not unless we learn that all the boosters and relevant people were in favor of hiring candidate #2, but he hired candidate #1, and candidate #1 goes on to fail miserably.

I think it can be argued that B is not necessary giving C everything he needs.

Regardless, this is how it works pretty much everywhere. When B is constantly hiring a C that never pans out, at some point A needs to find another B, otherwise A might not be around for too long.

What is the C not getting from B? B is giving C everything that B has available.

Also, when you say 4 HC's, he fired Mac which wasn't his coach, Chizik left on his own and he fired CPR. So if MC leaves on his own you hold that against JP? I have trouble counting Mac and Chizik against JP. I could see Mac maybe but Chizik left on his own and there was nothing JP could do about it.

The context of my comment was done in the "if this hire does not work out" meaning that MC does not win games. So if MC is successful and leaves for a more prestigious program, I absolutely do not hold that against JP. Bottom line is this program needs to improve, and if MC does that and leaves great. If he does not, and needs to be fired, at some point you need to hold the leader accountable.

I agree with the bolded. But if the President helped with the hiring process I don't believe he can pin a failed hire on JP.

Things like this are why Twitter is stupid IMO. Honestly JP should be above this, there is no way that everyone will agree with everything. If the guy is still buying 4 tickets and donating at a Gold level, why not let him be stupid and spout off, in the mean time take his money. Honestly nobody knows how MC will turn out but I tell you I was also impressed with his press conference, seems like the guy oozes intensity and class, he also could get "it" here.

Why alienate anyone in our fanbase, we are filling a stadium for a team that has won 8 games in 3 years, how many of those wins were witnessed by the home crowd, 5 is all. Got to be the bigger man in this case.

In the end, JP is responsible for how the football coach preforms, not Leath. Maybe Leath would keep him around, I dont know, but knowing what we know of Leath, I cant see JP sticking around if CMC does not win.

JP throwing shade towards Hoks. Love it!

Is he seriously bragging about winning 2 news days in a row now (over the Hawks being 12-0)? Good grief. Just when I thought it couldn't get any more pathetic he thinks winning a news day is an accomplishment.

How much did Pollard call out the biggest embarrassment of all? You know, Mel Weatherwax.

Well said. JP turned what was being widely acclaimed as a great hire and unifying Cyclone nation into a negative because he's still too insecure to handle some criticism, even though his job is very safe imo. It's taken some attention away from the great hire and put some of it on JP's twitter so it's being talked about on here and talk radio, and who knows where else. That's not fair to CMC as all the attention should be on him right now. JP has to be big enough not to respond and smart enough to know that when he does, it's going to be divisive and a hot topic. He also has to remember that these coaches come to ISU mostly because of the great fan support and they have said as much. There was great fan support before JP got here and there will be great support after he's gone, whenever that is. Focus should be on the coaches and credit to the loyal fans, not him.

That's weak. If the guy he's blasting changed his opinions based on what he saw, Jamie should be all over that as a positive for Campbell, not a reason to get after someone.

Oh, and wrestling or something.
Agreed, pretty shocking really. Big of Dan to admit he was wrong and amazingly immature for Jamie to essentially tell a fan to go **** off for having an opinion. This is the **** that turns people off about pollard. He is a complete narcisist. Instead of being happy people are vindication his hire he makes it all about him and the fact nobody "loyal" to ISU should ever doubt him. It would be like Obama/Bush or any President telling anyone who differs with his opinion or something does as unamerican or unpatriotic. Amazing.

JP is a thin skinned mega nerd that embarrasses us fairly often. Not calling for his ouster, but what a freaking loser.

hmmmm, speaking of overreaction! Remember what he has done in upgrading budgets and facilities, working to save the Big12, top 5 basketball. Yes his comment was very stupid, but lets not have cyclone nation overreact too.
