If only, IF ONLY the hawks in here could figure that out maybe they wouldn't pollute this thread so hard.

No one's denying the stretch run is pathetically bad. But when the committee supposedly doesn't project how things will look at the end of the year, there's no good reason for Baylor to be so high. Their schedule to date has been every last bit as weak as Iowa's stretch run is, but they're getting all kinds of love for dominating scrubs. Iowa has a much stronger resume right now than Baylor does (and so do a lot of teams ranked below the Bears right now).

That's the problem with a four-team system when there are five major conferences--one of them is always going to end up ****ed every year, no matter what.

Add in Notre Dame being in the picture every 4-5 years, and then you have two conferences in that boat. Let's hope it's not an annual tradition with ours.

It's rather funny that I agree with hawk fans that if you go by what the committee states, Iowa should be rated higher. I do believe not one of these hawk fans would make the same case for ISU in the same situation, however.

The reality is the committee is a joke. That was revealed last year. Although Iowa should be rated higher now they should also drop like a rock as their SOS takes a hit even if they win handily which I am not sure they will do at Nebraska.

Plus NW beat them on the road. So that's definitely a good win.

Iowa would drop like a rock if everything happened in a vacuum, because of their upcoming SOS. But the fact that so many teams in front of them still have to play some very tough games, they could possibly hang right around the 7-10 range and then make a huge jump with a win over a 12-0 OSU.

This is all a moot point, though. I don't see Iowa beating Ohio State, or even staying closer than two touchdowns. If Beathard were going to be back to full speed, I could see Iowa at least being competitive because the defense will keep them in the game for at least a while. But the offense will struggle to score points against OSU. I'm looking forward to a Rose Bowl matchup with Stanford.

I have never seen a top 10 fan base more afraid of playing Indiana in football. I genuinely don't get it. Iowa will roll this Saturday just like they will for the rest of the regular season.

Iowa State is #61 in Sagarin. Remember that there are only 65 Power Five schools so, yeah, not great at all.

Indiana is #84.

While I'm at it, Purdue is 88, Minnesota is 69, and Nebraska is 54. Iowa basically plays two teams comparable to ISU plus two teams significantly worse over the course of the rest of the season - and this weekend is against one of those "worse" teams.

I mean, Illinois State is 11 spots better in Sagarin than Indiana. Is this some weird expectations game thing that many Iowa fans seem to be playing? A preemptive nut cup to try to soften the blow of what really should be a devastating upset (if Indiana somehow manages to win)? I just don't get it at all. Iowa is unproven but still 8-0. Indiana is absolutely abysmal.

1. I'm not really that upset by the ranking, just the inconsistent reasonings that the committee is using to justify a host of head scratchers in their first poll.

Right after I posted that, I remembered this website during last basketball season when Iowa State was #9 and playing some garbage team like, say, Texas Tech (one that could never beat ISU). It makes more sense now.

Difference is TCU has played a tougher schedule and WILL HAVE played a tougher schedule at the end of the season as well.
