Russell described the way it felt as a 1 or 2 out of 10.

STATE OF EMERGENCY FOR STL..... Now it's time to quit f-ing around and do our job. I just placed a bet onthe Cards today and feeling good. Lackey is our best pitcher and it's on his shoulders today. Time for our bats to make some serious noise. 4 more hours.

Let's see it big shot

Not a big baseball junkier where I know the league well, so I'm interested in those who consider themselves one's opinion. If the Cubs where to win this series (trying not to get too far ahead of myself, but what the heck), who would you consider the better matchup for us, the Mets or the Dodgers? Essentially, I'm just trying to determine who I should root for.

I'd rather face the mets. Would like to stay away from Kershaw/Greinke plus we are 7-0 against NYM this year.

I'd say ask the resident baseball community expert bode but he only seems to talk about the Cards and pretty much hammers the same point home over and over.

To answer your question, I was just pondering this same thing last night and I'm pretty much torn. Went 7-0 against the Mets in the regular season and 3-4 against the Dodgers. Both team's starters scare me but I feel like if it came down to a deciding game against Kershaw, his string of bad luck in postseason games would continue but I don't want to bank on that.

If I had to pick, I'd play the odds and go with the Mets but I'm sure somebody could make a very convincing argument the other way. Whoever it winds up being if we take care of business against the Cards, I'm confident the Cubs can get it done if they play their game.

I fully suspect this. Some combination of Wood/ Cahill/ Richard can ideally eat up those middle innings.

Cards need to run off Hammel with a lead or I will be "Game winning FG attempt by Netten" levels of nervous
