Personally, Id go with Hendricks on 3 days rest, if we are down 1-2, over Hammel. Hendricks overall numbers are better, IMO. I also think, if the Cubs do have a 4th starter, that it will be Haren over Hammel.

Which position players do you think get dropped for the NLDS? This is the most quality depth I can ever remember the Cubs having, I think there's a decent possibility Soler may get left off. Denorfia, Soler and Berry are probably the three guys on the chopping block for two spots assuming they don't put boht Haren and Hammels on the roster.

I'd leave Berry off. His skill set is one we just don't use a whole lot.

Quinton Berry will be the odd man out. If they carry both Haren and Hammel, the next guy I would take off would be Ross, but I know that probably wont happen.

Guys, save the trash talk for the MLB playoff thread and let each team discuss in peace, both Cards and Cubs.

Yeah there's no way you can only go with one real catcher, the thought of Schwarber trying to catch Arrieta, Lester, Strop or Rondon in a playoff setting scares the hell out of me. Plus it really limits how much you can use Schwarber in general.

Why would you leave David Ross off? He's getting at least one, if not two, starts in the LDS.

It's Berry or Soler and I'm leaning towards Berry not being on the LDS roster. You might do the opposite in the LCS.

To me, there is no way you take both Haren and Hammel.

Because he's not good, and Schwarber can catch if Montero goes down. As I mentioned in my post, I know its highly unlikely that Ross is not included on the roster.

I think we will see Lester-Arrieta-an H-named pitcher not named Kyle-Lester-Arrieta. Just my thoughts. I know that's short rest for 2 guys, but you have days off in there too. They both would have 3 days off in between starts instead of 4...that's doable. Also, you've gotta give yourself the best chance to advance - can't think about conserving for later series yet. Plus if Haren/Hammel struggles, you go to the pen and get Wood, etc. involved early. That game is also at Wrigley so you won't have the opposing fans against that guy.

Arrieta is not pitching Saturday. Also, based off the last month, why would you leave Hendricks off?
