I was pretty young, so I can't remember who we were playing or the score, all I can remember is that Dwayne Crutchfield was the RB, and as usual he had a huge day.

I was thinking that David Archer was the QB, but I could be wrong. It might have been Quinn? Can't remember.

Let me tell you of a story about a guy name (many of you saw play) Troy Davis. I became a Cyclone fan that day in 95 when he scored (I think) 5 TDs vs UNLV. This guy will always be a legend at this school. We wouldn't have had won 1 f****ing game those 2 seasons without him, yet he was a Heisman Candidate! That day is when I became an Iowa State fan.

September 19, 1981. ISU 23 - Iowa 12 (I think). Camped out at south gate of JTS because seats were general admission. Ran in when gate opened, sat in 2nd row on west side. First song played over PA that day was "Rockin' the Paradise" by Styx!

If Crutchfield was involved, it was Quinn at QB, not Archer (who didn't start until '82).

So it was 1980 or 1981.

I was 12 years old in 1969. Purple Kansas had a good team that year, Lynn Dickey was their QB and his dad was the head coach, and beat the Cyclones 21-10 at Clyde Williams Field.

Something that had almost never been said about them.

The only team from the Big 6-8-12-10 that ISU has a winning record against (and that's being 0-7 in the last 7).

At the new stadium grand opening, on September 20, 1975, with a 17–12 win over Air Force. The next 3, and only, wins that season were over Florida St., Utah and Kansas St.

Sept 21, 1957, ISC 10-Denver 0. Jim Myers introduces us to the single wing and mighty Moe Nichols at tailback. Lost to Drake that year, 20-0 and Drake played in the Sun Bowl.

Sometime during Walden era (I was pretty young), one of the last games of the season so it was really cold, playing Nebby and got thrashed. I remember wearing a snowsuit.

Iowa vs Iowa State. Somehow got free tickets and watched the Clones lose 10-29

Was actually an Iowa fan at the time. I saw the light in 1992

Sept 11, 1999. ISU over Iowa 17-10. I was in the south west hill, with my dad. We had just moved from Michigan a year prior, so I wasn't yet the die hard I am today.

September 18th, 2004 vs. Northern Illinois. We won 48-41. (had to look that up) I was 11. My sunday school teacher and his wife were season ticket holders and she couldn't go, so he asked if I would like to go. Very memorable day.

A lot of candidates but maybe the most deflating loss in ISU history.

The team was supposed to be good (not true) and laid a gigantic egg.

Pete could hardly get the words out of his mouth (hard to with the gag reflex and all).

That was a rough season, I seem to recall lots of injuries, but it was at a time when ISU football had some legitimacy, (yes there was a small window in the late 70's) and to finish the way it did was just depressing.

1987 at JTS against #1 Oklahoma. Wasn't pretty. 56-3. I remember empty bleachers as far as the eye could see. So empty my brother and I joined in a game of tag with a few other kids in the next section.

was a freshman at ISU in 1995. Went to the first game against Ohio - a game lovingly called the 'Losers Bowl' since neither team won a game the previous year (ISU was 0-10-1, and Ohio was 0-11 in 1994). ISU won by something like 15 points and the students proceeded to rip down the goal posts and drag them off to Lake Laverne. Pretty much one of the best game experiences of all time.
