1987, my U8 soccer team got to go down on the field. I remember thinking, "how the heck could you get tackled on this concrete and get up?"

August 31th, 2002 - ISU 45 - Kansas 3

I have a lot of great (and not so great) memories about that season. Freshman year of college & finally being at games in person. Watching us come up just short against FSU in the opener, but getting super excited knowing at that point we were going to thrash Nebraska that year. Getting drunk in our dorm room during the first half & halftime of the Iowa game in depression, then watching that amazing comeback. Seeing The Run in person. Getting embarrassed by Oklahoma on national television as a top 10 team...Losing to UConn during their first year as an FBS school (had forgotten about that one).

What a year.

1981 KU at ISU. We were rated and stated the year off 5-1-1 and reached #11 in the ranking just to lose the last 4 games of the year including that KU game. The game was basically Dwayne Crutchfield carrying the ball like 500 time on a bad leg. We sat at the 50 yard line and did not have actual tickets but concession stand worker passes and ended up getting kicked out of seats about 5 times before we settled and no one made us move. I was in high school and came to Ames with some friends and stayed in MWL with one of the friends brother. Experienced my first den party and ended drinking way too much Mad Dog 20/20 because the college student were smart enough to stay away from that crap but as a dumb high school kid we would drink anything that is free.

1985 Iowa State Iowa game. Chuck Long and Ronnie Harmon pulled away after a close 1st quarter to win going away. Something like 53-3. Iowa was rated #1 in the country in the polls released later that week. Many Iowa fans are still stuck in that era.

If I remember correctly we drove the length of the field on our first position to stall out in the red zone and then proceed to miss a short FG, the air went out of the stadium and it was all Iowa for the rest of the game.

I was there. 57-3. Absolutely brutal. For some reason a few of us in our section stayed the entire game. I swear there were fewer than 800fans in the stadium at the end. (Drizzly, cold day to boot).

Your memory is better than mine about that detail. I'll assume you're correct.

I'm pretty sure it was 41-3 at halftime.

My first ISU football game was in the late 1950's I can't remember much about it, but I believe it was Colorado. I have been going to ISU games since then and have gone regular since Jack Trice was built.
I enjoy it, even in the not so good years. It is fun whether we win or lose. I want us to win but it is not a requirement in my life and yes I support Paul Rhoads and Gene Chizek and Dan McCarney and whom ever is the coach, because I am an ISU fan.

October 7, 1995 - Oklahoma 39, Iowa State 26 - I was 9 years old.

I don't think Troy Davis did so well in this game, but it was pretty cool just to see him. I remember thinking that Howard Schnellenberger looked goofy. I guess it was also McCarney's first Big 8 game?
