As I am sure this thread will be deleted and I will perhaps be banned again, I have already pm'd the message below to Mr. Williams.

I have read the message board over the past week, and it seems I am not alone in my negative feelings towards the former head basketball coach. Provided these feelings are appropriately expressed, this should not be a concern for the CF admin/moderators.

I have posted this publically in the hopes of starting a conversation/discussion about the boundaries for appropriate discourse on CF and and the necessary and appropriate role of the moderators.

Mr. Williams,

Last Friday night I was banned from CF for a week without prior warning or any explanation of how my posts were inappropriate. Please feel free to look at the posts/threads in question. I did not use any inappropriate language, I did not make any personal attacks against any student-athletes or other forum members, and my posts were on topic and not spamming or trolling.

I have been a rabid Cyclone fan since I was six years old. Everyone who knows me in real life knows this. I have always supported Cyclone athletics and student-athletes. Anyone who suggests otherwise is inappropriately using an ad hominem attack to discredit my position and statements.

As I was given no prior warning and since have received no explanation for my ban, I can only surmise as to its motivation. It seems to be a particular moderator disagreed with my positions and feelings and took it upon themselves to "scrub" the forums of any non-positive comments being posted about the former head basketball coach of Iowa State. This violates the fundamental purpose of such a message board, which is to allow fans of a team to engage in discourse about the team and their experiences. Obviously such a discourse should be moderated for appropriate language, attacks on student-athletes should not be tolerated, etc. Yet my posts were entirely appropriate, and so I can only conclude that I was silenced due to my criticism of an individual that a moderator is defending. This, if true, is clearly an abuse of power. If not true, I would happily read an explanation for the reasoning behind my ban.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I know you put in many hours to make Cyclone Fanatic the best possible website and experience it can be, and I agree with my fellow posters who say it is the best team forum they have seen. I would not bring this matter to your attention if I did not believe it was of the utmost importance and addresses the integrity of the forum experience of your website.

Thanks again.

Go State,

Well if a mod is going to ban someone because he doesn't agree with the mod and otherwise follows the rules, then that is horse ****. No clue as to what happened, but it the events went down as he typed in the OP, then I'll back him.

It's a free message board. Go play world of warcraft for a week and come back fresh. Any poster worth his salt gets banned now and again. Take it as a badge of honor.

I too often walk into someone's house, pee on the rug, and then then get all huffy when I'm escorted off the premises without an explanation.

I'm glad you contacted Chris, and the appropriate course of action is to contact a mod or administrator if there is a question about deleted content or a ban. Open letters usually don't go over well in this realm.

When the Mayor brought the Ten Commandments of CF down from Mount Hilton the first was “Thou shall have no other Coaches before Me”.

Just ask for a refund, problem solved.

Although I don't remember the specifics of it all weren't you the one that kept creating a string of unnecessary threads about Hoiberg while the mods were asking everyone to keep discussions in one or two threads.

Yeah, he was. He got banned for being an annoyance. While I think mods can overreact at times, this one had it coming.

To be fair, he makes a decent point that maybe just maybe a PM should come before a ban...

I created three threads. One was deleted within one minute of creation. The second was a poll asking fellow CFers their opinion on the situation and was deleted after about 15 votes and a few discussion posts.

I would object to the idea that I was spamming the message board with unnecessary threads.
