Let the race begin...

Those that think Kansas has a good shot at not losing another regular season game are giving them too much credit. It could happen but them losing two is more likely than none.

We need to go 6-2 the rest of the way to have a shot. Then hope they drop three. Not likely but is possible.

It's not a race until ku loses a few more. ISU is likely to be two back again on Monday.

How many Iowa State games have you watched?

ISU has won 20 in a row at Hilton. Kansas has lost nine times at the Phog in 10 years. Meanwhile ISU is 1-3 on the road in Big 12 play this year after going 3-6 last year, and Kansas is 3-2 on the road and seemingly unbeatable at home in Big 12 play.

If you are just going to willfully ignore the huge difference that home/away has not just in general, but on Kansas and Iowa State specially, then you're being just as pigheaded as the people you're criticizing. Open your eyes and face the facts - road games are bad, home games are good, and we're at a disadvantage because we have more of the former and less of the latter.

this.

Both teams win out at home

Assume Kansas only road win from now on is @Tech (best case scenario for ISU). Kansas is 13-5. 4 road wins.
Iowa State has 1 road win so far, to tie Kansas they would need to get to 4 road wins.

Iowa State's Schedule
-------------------------
@ Oklahoma
@ Okie St.
@ Texas
@ Kansas St.
@ TCU

For now, I'm penciling OU as a loss and TCU as a win. Iowa State has 2 road wins, they need to win 2 of the 3 to "tie" Kansas

@ Okie St.
@ Texas
@ Kansas St.

Could ISU do it? Sure. Would I go to Vegas and bet on it? No way.

Kansas needs a home loss or it's a long shot it happens.

I just want Randy Peterson to eat his words in today's DSM about the Race for 2nd place in B12, a lot has to happen as discussed but for this reason I want that smug wiped off RP's face!

The end of the season is shaping up to be a doozy. If we want to be a championship team we are going to have to win some really challenging games on the road, but that's what all championship teams have to do. Sure we need a little help from the rest of the league in the form of beating Kansas at least once more, but this team is perfectly capable of running the table and making our own destiny. Time to focus in focus-town! Go Cyclones!!!

Oklahoma and Baylor are starting to scare me.

starting to? why wouldn't you be worried about them the whole season? when have they not been right there with Iowa State and WVU with big wins? seasons are full or swings and runs. WVU was on fire and everyone was like 'omg they are scary' now they lose a couple and they aren't impressive at all. OU and Baylor win a few and now THEY'RE the scary ones. it's all part of the season. teams rise and fall.
