Anyone think Shawn Taggart regrets transferring?

I'll bet his only regret is having "wasted" a year at ISU.

Pretty sad for the coaches, and especially the team, that they all somewhat "knew" that Morgan was a goner halfway through the season. Frankly, it makes me more impressed with the job the staff did to close out the year...they hammered a ranked Colorado team in Ames and nearly beat a ranked OU team in Norman.

Everyone always decries the Morgan era for having a lack of control but you tell me how many coaches could really keep much control when everyone pretty much knows the coach is getting the axe and you still have a couple of months to play?

I, for one, am tired of the Morgan supporters out there. He is no longer coaching basketball ANYWHERE! Even Taggart threw him under the bus saying that Memphis has a lot more discipline than he had while at ISU. I don't mind people criticizing McDermott because he is our current coach. However, Morgan is gone, so let that one be.

The grass is always greener on the other side, isn't it? If Iowa had scooped up McDermott, ISU fans would be moaning that we let that one get away. Or, we would be saying he would never have taken the ISU job anyway because he was always a hawk fan. Someday, we will have a different coach and people will be longing for McDermott again. It's a vicious circle.

I propose we have a TF/LE/WM/GM coaches forum where those who choose can participate in the Battle Royale that is debating coaches. Also, I would like to see the over/under on the percentage of MBB threads that eventually turn into a debate over the virtues of these coaches.

Actually, he was planning on moving on any way, according to a recent newspaper article.

This is got to be one of the silliest threads I've seen in a while. The guys team is playing in the national championship tonight? Regrets? You got to be kidding.

We have some of the strangest fans on here. There is no need to rip McDermott or ISU's program for what has happened to Taggart. While in prep school, Taggart had an offer from Memphis, but he chose to come to ISU. Morgan left and Taggart transferred to Memphis. This is not a big deal. It happens all the time. I do think Taggart's experience at ISU may have helped toughen him a bit, but he still has had some off-the-court issues while at Memphis so who knows how long he'll make it there. I do like seeing Taggart succeed - much the same way I cheered for Shane Power after he transferred to Miss State. Once a Cyclone - always a Cyclone.

So, you cheered for Haluska while he was at Iowa too?

That's a little different, but your point is well taken. Personally, I root for most of the guys who have left our program except Haluska just because of the Iowa thing. Now that Adam is done at Iowa I don't dislike him anymore and hope he has a nice professional career.

I am indifferent on Haluska. I think he should be able to come to ISU games to watch Sean without being hassled, but I wish him no luck in the NBA. He is a hawkeye, period. I don't even remember his year as a Cyclone.

As soon as an Iowa player graduates, I couldn't care less. I'm still going to tip him when he delivers my pizza...hawkeye visor on his head or not.

Blaaaah...

Why have we lost so many solid players to transfers? I'm tired of this crap. It started with Shane Power under Eustachy. He transfered out just before Larry was un-"loaded." Then Haluska left, and after that Taggart was gone, among others... (I'm sure someone can add to and correct my list) What is going on that players are willingly giving up a year of eligibility to transfer out of ISU? I cannot think of another D1 school that has lost this many players in the past 5 years... What do we need to do to start keeping these players? (facilities?)

Dumb question - as obviously no person in their right mind would regret going from a losing program to one that just played in the title game.
