Saw some figures for what our SEZ amounts to as far as allocation of funds, $40,000,000 on Stadium, $7,500,000 on Gardens, Practice Field and Entry, and $12,500,000 on East side parking, entry, tunnel and rec fields.

Wasn't sure those figures had been out before, we aren't OU but our project should be a nice start to hopeful continuous improvements to JTS.

Re: OU getting $350-400 miillions renovation

Did you honestly just ask how does that happen? Is today the first day you've been following Iowa State sports and the Big 12 in general?
He could have been following all his life, but unless he is near 70 that would not answer it. The State of Oklahoma decided long ago, before college sports were big businesses, that OU was going to care and be elite in football. On the other hand our State has in the not so distant past preferred ISU not compete at a high level in any sport.

Did you say tunnel? As in "under University?"

People that think the answer to all of ISU's issues is that it's fanbase needs to increase their donation level are the worst kind of clueless.

I am unfamiliar with this. Please explain.

Random question: Would the cost of living/construction have an impact on project budgets like this? (Essentially I am asking if our $60 Million can buy us more than $60 Million down in Norman)

It is too long and too deep of a story and it is way too late, but try this image for starters:

Jesus H ****** the arms war that is college football is insane. Granted, I'd be stoked if ISU could ever pull together something like that. But then our budget and revenues are pathetic compared to OU.

Exactly. He is Exhibit A as to why you don't want a total egghead as your university president.

In fairness to Gordo, there was a strong anti-athletics vibe running through the faculty at that time, so the "search committee" was looking for someone who could implement that philosophy. Combine that with Pomerantz' (head of BOR) desire to turn ISU into UI-Ames, there wasn't much hope of getting a president who was looking to make ISU a premier institution on all fronts, let alone athletics. IMO, Eaton kind of did what he has hired to do...

ISU is poor compared to Iowa. ISU has a handful of large donors but it is small compared to just about every team in our conference. Who is the wealthiest grad from ISU? Do more with less, ISU motto.

ESPN has some articles about this topic I found fascinating. The following link to the database lists all programs, with their total revenues, including the source of those revenues. Oklahoma comes in at #7, but still a long way behind Texas. Top 20:

1. Texas $165,691,486
2. Wisconsin $149,141,405
3. Alabama $143,776,550
4. Michigan $143,514,125
5. Ohio St $139,639,307
6. Florida $130,011,244
7. Oklahoma $123,805,661
8. LSU $117,457,398
9. Oregon $115,241,070
10. Tennessee $111,579,779
11. Notre Dame $108,509,683
12. Iowa $107,153,782

13. Penn State $104,751,464
14. Auburn $103,680,609
15. Arkansas $99,770,840
16. Minnesota $98,286,669
17. Georgia $98,120,889
18. Michigan State $97,942,726
19. USC $97,802,254
20. Louisville $96,193,330

59. Iowa State $62,357,761
