Adelman Not Returning to Minnesota

I'm waiting on any actual reason Minny is a good fit other than the fact that he used to work there.

First, you are minimzing what "he used to work there" truly means. Front offense personnel he knows, family is familiar with the area, kids can go back to their old school districts, still close to family in Ames...all of that is very important. This is especially true when people point to "family" as a reason why Fred won't leave.

Also, you make a big deal oabout Love leaving. He still has another year on his contract, which puts the T-Wolves in a decent bargaining position. After Lebron, many teams aren't making the hold-onto-him-until-he-decides-not-to-resign mistake. They have the luxury of knowing he wont resign and can spend the year shopping him out to other teams who will agree to trade for him with hopes he will resign. They can use him to acquire picks to help plan for the future.

I really don't think Fred is leaving. My problem is more that people think it's ridiculous to suggest he may. It's an NBA job-- there just aren't that many of them, and there really aren't many that would cause him to uproot his family.

Perhaps we should be reminded of what he said three short weeks ago when it was known that Adelman would step down:

"I'd love to end my career here."

"I have something unique that not many people have, my kids get to see their grandparents every day. I look up before every home game and see all my family in the stands."

This guy has demonstrated nothing but loyalty his entire life. He married his high school sweetheart. He stayed in Ames when he could have gone elsewhere after high school. He has an enormous respect for what Johnny Orr did and what he meant to this University. I honestly think he'll retire here if he's able to.

Great summary....and that is what I always remember as these continued speculations come up. He knows what JP did hiring him (sticking HIS neck out there) and he hasn't shown, ever really, that he's shady in any way. This is a business, but he also seems to get what he's got going on here.

He will always be an Ames legend, but he gets the impact he can have beyond basketball here. Look at the respect he paid to Coach Orr and understanding he had for what Orr did here.....he knows that he could have an even bigger impact. Enjoy the ride, everyone.

We get kicked enough in the nads already. Not sure why people are going out of their way to kick themselves in the bone-zone with all this speculation. Must not want any children.

There, now I have my bases covered and will be right no matter what happens. I'll be sure to rub it in either way.

What a dumb discussion, seriously.

On the bright side, this guy says Fred is an elite coach along with Izzo and Billy D.

Additional comments from a paper:
Team president Flip Saunders could move from the front office to the bench, but there is reportedly interest from the franchise in former Timberwolves guard Fred Hoiberg, who led Iowa State to the regional semifinals of the NCAA Tournament in March.
The job could be attractive in that it offers stability with 12 players on the current roster under contract for next season. All-Star forward Kevin Love is scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the 2014-15 season.
In addition to Hoiberg, Yahoo Sports reported that early candidates include former Miami Heat and Orlando Magic coach Stan Van Gundy and Michigan State's Tom Izzo.

So just so im clear......its foolish and idiotic to think CFH could take a job at a place he was at for many years, has ties to the community and the team wants....the idea of THAT specualtion is "foolish"

But your assertion that hes here....he leaves for the NBA and then comes BACK to Iowa state later....is reasonable?

Thats your take?

Can I say that I will think Fred is an idiot if he takes the T'Wolves job? Definition of a franchise that will always be stuck in NBA Hell.

Let's hope he knows this.

All he has to do is look at that roster.. then subtract Kevin Love from it and after he gets done vomiting on his shoes he should know.

I am still laughing at this newspaper quote "The job could be attractive in that it offers stability with 12 players on the current roster under contract for next season."

Having 11 of 12 guys who are ******* terrible signed to a roster might make it stable but its still ******* terrible.

Fred may indeed want to coach the Twolves, but it's not something he has to jump on right now. There's a head coach opening there every 2.4 years. So he could take it whenever he wanted to.

As most on her I really don't think CFH is leaving for the Wolves at least not this year, still always good to see that the insiders are in agreement. Granted the Owner doesn't sound like he wants Saunders to take the job but, he may convience him.
(I've been thinking that Flip would step back to the sidelines since midseason.)

A lot of league insiders think Flip Saunders will take over the T-wolves' coaching duties himself....

I just accepted the Timberwolves job, I suck at coaching so I should be a perfect fit! Please stay Love.

The situation he's in right now >>> situation Minnesota is in, and will ever be in

I will however, be worried if K-Love decides to stay, which i don't think will happen.
