PA just said that he spoke to someone close to Fred. 0 chance he leaves and it might be a while until he does.

Rejoice fanatics.

Unlike most, this actually does kind of worry me as I think this is one of the few jobs he would take. In relation to the family thing, his kids have lived in the twin cities before. They likely still have friends in the area and they could rejoin their old school district. He's still close enough to Ames to be near the family. Also, I wonder if he wants his kids to have a little more of a "normal" childhood. Heck, Paige can't even get asked to prom without it being on KCCI. Fred is as big of a celebrity as this state has, and his family is treated as such. While an NBA head coaching gig certainly is a high profile job, I wonder if Fred doesn't feel his kids could blend in a little more in Minneapolis.

Also, I wonder if Fred wont feel he has largely done what he set out to do by stabilizing the program. I imagine his goal is to do much more than that, but he could feel good in knowing that while he was only here a short time he picked the program out of the dumpster and put it on the national stage.

I hope like crazy he doesn't go, but I wouldn't be altogether surprised if he did. It seems like the perfect situation if he wants to make the jump.

I think most of what you said is stupid, sorry :/. I wish I could be nicer.

There's no chance FH leaves for a team whose best player has one year left on his deal and is probably leaving, and whose second best player is Ricky Rubio.

Looks like that was premature from PA, should have waited for Clones32 before he went and spouted off about things he could never possibly know about.

I guess I don't know who PA is...

All I'm saying is if you are going to cite "family" as a reason for him not to go but if there was an NBA team for him to go to and have it minimize the effect it has on his family it would be this one. Also, I get the T-Wolves roster his garbage, but you're crazy if Fred doesn't think he can rebuild. Mind you, he took a paycut to come coach a team who has finished at or near the bottom of the Big 12 4 years straight...

The things he said were in regards to personal situation, are true, and definitely not stupid. But thank you for demonstrating your ability to discuss a position outside of your own!

While I think clonefans point holds water for most people (including me, I wouldn't like my daughters prom being news), my feeling is that the Hoibergs like the celebrity status. Their kids/family have really jumped on the twitter game, and with a handle like @mayorswife (or whatever it is), its definitely not a situation where they are trying to hide from the limelight.

Rebuilding in college with an empty roster is a lot different than rebuilding in the NBA.

Nobody else was going to hire FH as a coach at ISU's level or above. Absolutely nobody. ISU was the only power conference job he was going to get.

And FH doesn't need to rebuild. He will get a talented team in a good spot whenever he wants. He is happy at ISU and he doesn't need to jump.

Are you serious? He was saying he could see Minnesota being a potential landing spot for family reasons. Not that it IS going to happen. He's stating an opinion, not reporting the news. You do know the difference right?

Speculating all that BS about his family and all those random guesses on what FH wants and then declaring Minnesota a perfect fit is absolutely stupid.

So just to summarize......you either had complete faith he would never leave......and you are fine.

If you had any shred of doubt no matter how many connections to Minnesota, the Wolves, city, friends, player relationships he still has.....if you had any question about that he might leave....you are a mentally ******** idiot who will get bashed.

Welcome to Cyclone Fanatic.

Personally I think anyone who thought he was leaving for Minnesota is pretty foolish. As is calling Minnesota a perfect fit.

Too bad the basketball team is **** and it is unattractive to free agents and they don't have very many assets to work with and they don't have a big spending owner and their best player is a California guy who is probably going to leave after a year.

If you haven't noticed, he has a few connections to ISU as well if we are playing that game.

Welcome to Cyclone Fanatic.

What bothers me is the "He'll probably leave in 5 years guy" talking like nothing can derail that train.
