Re: Rashad Vaughn

i think we can all agree Vaughn is more than likely not coming to Ames. Unc and Kentucky seem to have arisen as the front runners. Sucks, but what do you do? We need one more scorer to compete at a shot for the final 4 next season IMO.

I can't.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Not a fan of the quote where he says the main factor in deciding where to go is national championship hopes. When you are considering Kansas, UNC and Kentucky and say that it can only leave a Cyclone fan negative.

I knew someone would bring that up. I wouldn't read into it too much, every kid wants to win a national championship, and all the schools that he's looking at have a chance to win it with him on the team.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I'm sure you realize that the fine folks at 247 Sports are just making guesses at where prospects will land. They make and update the predictions to generate traffic to the site. I haven't kept any stats, but from what I've seen and heard they're among the worst at forecasting these outcomes well in advance of an actual commitment--though they do seem to amend their predictions when the impending commitment becomes a poorly kept secret. For example, they and the rest of the lemmings were sure Emmanuel Mudiay was going to Kentucky. Then, just a couple of days before his announcement he gave an interview that sounded very pro-SMU and used the phrase "shock the world." So, lo and behold, all the pundits suddenly knew he was going to announce for SMU. The truth is that most of them didn't really know anything until the announcement was imminent.

In short, Vaughn may end up at ISU, but any relationship between the 247 predictions and the truth on that subject would be purely coincidental. Most of the participants in the "Crystal Ball Predictions" are the recruiting equivalents of Larry, Moe and Curly. However, they sure would appreciate it if y'all would stop by and check out the site!

For those who are concerned that UNC and UK are becoming favorites after the last interview.

@jerrymeyer247: Iowa State pushing towards 50% in #Crystalball for Rashad Vaughn (#9/#13). UNLV, Kentucky & North Carolina follow. Rashad Vaughn's Crystal Ball Predictions

A lot of recruits say they are going to "shock the world." Remember when Noel said that? I was sure he would pick UL and instead goes with UK. Not sure anyone was "shocked"

Re: Rashad Vaughn

The more this plays out, the more I have the notion that Mr. Vaughn will NOT be a Cyclone. I can't tell you why. I think he is a Tar Heel lean unfortunately...

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Cuz if I'm Rashad Vaughn, and I'm wanting to go to a team that can win a National Championship, I'm going to go to the one with a starting lineup and bench consistently full of top 50 players, but will have a hard time making the NCAA tournament.

For the 2nd time in 5 years.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Fred should mention to RV that Harrison Barnes went to UNC to win a national championship and that did not work out the way it was suppose for HB and UNC and he was there for 2 years!!

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Reading that interview made it seem like UNC and ISU were his top 2

Why? I don't think any national pundit would agree with that statement much less cyclone fans. We still have as good a shot as anyone and considering the variables many would say better.

Pretty sure he is talking about focusing on winning the prep HS national championship.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Disagree - In that interview he says for the rest of the season the focus is on THIS season and the goals are simple - win a national championship and get better.

Vaughn has some lofty goals as he looks toward his college career.

“I want to try and get a championship,” he said. “That’s the first thing on my mind going to college. That’s what I want to do – go in there and contribute to my team right away and win a national championship.
“After that, the goal’s just, you know, get to the NBA. So that’s the dream, that’s the goal. That’s what I want to do.”
