Bruce Weber about to nosedive another program straight into the ground. He can only win with someone elses players.

It's amazing how much better off Illinois is with John Groce than Weber. I seriously doubt Weber lasts at KSU for another 3 years.

58 frigging points. Must not have shot very many free throws with the new hand check rules.

Damn you KSU, stop bringing down the conference RPI!!
I for one don't mind if they tank - cannot stand KSU! They have no point guard who can create off the dribble - Rodriguez's departure hurt them BIG TIME! Spradling at point reminds me of our experiment with Scott C running the point - except that Scotty was a 1000x better shooter than Spradling.

Ha, and in today's ESPN bracketology (first edition of the season), they were a 9 seed and we were an 11... I have a feeling that will change soon.

Not to overstate after a specific loss like that, but gut feeling says Weber will squeeze into the tournament at 11-12-play-in level with teams projected as 6-7-8 seeds, for however long he's at K-State.

Look at his recruiting so far, there is no way he's taking that pile to the tournament.

This thread seems eerily similar to the post game thread of k state and NDSU week 1 this fb season.

Then we lost to UNI...

Yeah... thats why i was being fairly quiet, as much as i dont see us losing sunday, i remember laughing at KSU and then at Iowa that weekend, then we lost.

Then again, Mess isnt on our basketball staff, so we're probably ok.

That is pretty bad, but, then again, I would remind us all we've had some solid (in the end, after coaching and time to gel) teams the past two years pull this:

(L) to Drake in 2011
(L) to UNI in 2011

Then that team played solid in the conference, won an NCAA tournament game to start UConn on its long, dark journey into night, and gave (eventual national champion) UK all they could handle.

(L) to Iowa in 2012
(L) to Texas Tech in 2013

Then we won another NCAA tournament game, and gave Ohio State it all, missing a Sweet Sixteen appearance by an inch (a few shots here and there, a few bounces, a few calls, pick your cliche). These early season losses to under-qualified programs are not good, but, as we have shown, they don't tell you everything, particularly with "new" teams and coaches that need some time and testing to come together.

Two of our best seasons came after early losses to Drake.
