Welp, No more EA NCAA Football games...

The individual schools and stadiums are licensed through a separate entity called the CLC. So until the CLC pulls out, EA can still make a game without mentioning NCAA and without NCAA trademarks which is ok.
However, the CLC is also involved in the lawsuit and may eventually pull out. Then you have issues.
If EA continues to support server I am confident that people will play NCAA14 for the next ten years if no new game is made. Not sure if EA would do that. As it is now there are still people playing NCAA 12 with updated rosters for this years players.
The online community for this game is huge. That's the reason why people eventually get rosters with names on them now.
If the NCAA and CLC both pulled out I think EA could still create a game, they would just have to open in up and make everything customizable, including stadiums. As it is right now people have created alternate uniforms that are almost perfect replicas of the real college uniforms. Those could be entered by the online community and downloaded. If they let you create a stadium I bet you could create a really close replica to most college football stadiums. You can upload logos and such as well for current TeamBuilder teams so that could be worked around.
It would be interesting if it came down to it because that could lead to more Athletic Department features that they can't put into the game now, like coach salaries, Stadium enhancements, customizable entrances... Like others have said, they could add in storming the field and other "non-sanctioned" features.
The dooms day scenario is NCAA and CLC pulling out and EA being taken to the cleaners. Then we might not get any new games. Heck, EA might go under at that point. Hopefully that doesn't happen.

I understand that EA makes money off the game, but if they paid EVERY college football player in the game and every one who has ever been in the game it would be ridiculous. EA doesn't make that much money each year and would stop making a game. The annual revenue from the game when split up between that many people would be almost nothing.

If Ed is expecting everyone in his class action lawsuit to get a significant amount of money he's dumber than your average college athlete. EA doesn't have the kind of money and the NCAA looks like they are trying to wash their hands of it. Does he want to bankrupt the NCAA?
The only real consequence to the lawsuit would be killing off future college sports games and then no one makes money. Also, at the point, the FANS of the schools miss out because they don't get to play any more. I love playing NCAA football. I love my alma mater. If they take that away I am going to be straight up ticked off.
Hell, the current players like being able to play as themselves. It's the former players who want to make money off of this that are raising the stink.
Half the people will just buy Madden instead then and it will kill off NCAA football.
NCAA 14 will be released on the next gen consoles. It will technically still be football season when those machines are released for sale.
I don't think they are going to re-release 14 for PS4 or XBone. They will wait until next year and revamp things for the higher quality of the consoles.
They already said they were releasing for the PS4 and XboxOne. That was at E3 this year.
Also, you said EA might go under if they stop doing the NCAA. Which I find laughable. They still have these sports franchise games if the college football one goes under: Burnout, Madden, FIFA, NBA Live, Need For Speed, SSX, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour. Not to mention these non-sports franchises: Battlefield, Burnout, Command & Conquer, Crysis, Dead Space, Dragon Age,Mass Effect, Medal of Honor, Mirror's Edge, SimCity, Spore, Star Wars, and The Sims.
Not to mention PlayFish which is one of the largest Free-To-Play social networking gaming companies. Don't forget about PopCap Games which has Bejeweled, Zuma, Plants vs Zombies etc.
NCAA sells 500,000 copies a year on average (Trending up though). They are the third largest gaming company in the world with revenues over $4BILLION. They can survive without this game if it goes under.

Maybe it is Madden? I know a football one is coming. Xbox highlighted it in their E3 preview of it.
I didn't say they could go under if they stop making NCAA. It doesn't make that much money for them. I am talking about if the class action lawsuit thinks they are going to get a significant amount of money for every player represented in the game that the cost of that lawsuit would have to be enough to bankrupt EA. More likely, if they did win a lawsuit, the amount of money per person would be rally low and the only major effect would be that EA would stop making NCAA games.

If the NCAA doesn't have the appetite for whatever risk there is, do you really think that individual schools will, either?
This latest news is game over IMO. Losing the conference logos, tie ins, traditions, etc... its too much to recover from.
Surely it doesn't have to do with selling the same watered down crap year in and year out without doing much more than tweaking things. I loathe EA products for the most part.
I would LOVE to see the makers of the 2k series get a crack at college football.
