Please elaborate.

I'm from his hometown and have several mutual FB friends. Just noticed he was with people he shouldn't have been. No idea if that's why, but taking an educated guess he will probably be another drugged out Creston loser. Some people can stay there and be fine, but its hard for guys his age not to get sucked in. That's why I left and never looked back.

When did Creston become Compton?

I think *chomps on chips* this kid *more chip chomping* is being a *strained swallow* big baby and should *beer swig* be giving everything *belch* he has.

*labored breathing*

I pay good *fart* money for my tickets and *beer chug* deserve to have him *forcing chips in* sacrifice everything for my *shaaaaart* entertainment.

I went to college with his dad...great guy and its a good family. This one really bites and I hope the best for him. Remember, even though he is a big guy, he's still just a kid.

I see him wrestling at Iowa before he plays football, he can room with Jake Marlin and try his hand at that sport. Just a head scratcher, but I wish him the best of luck. I once upon a time had a lot of people upset and accusing me of things when I gave up a college sport, but it worked out in the end. Can't say I don't have regrets, but that's what happens in life!

What rustshack has said is true.

People from creston are not surprised by this development.

What is your gut feeling based on? If I recall correctly, he committed to ISU and was offered by Iowa after the fact. If he wanted to be a Hawk, he had his opportunity, yet he stuck to his commitment. Things were lining up very well for him here in terms of playing time. Why would he now decide to leave, just to sit out a year and take his chances at Iowa against the rest of Reese Morgan's unit? I don't see it, but crazier things have happened, I suppose.
Reese is a good man, was my high school
Coach but I don't see it. The kid loves duck dynasty, he is pulling a Phil Robertson (Phil started over Terry Bradshaw before quitting and giving up football to hunt and make duck calls).

This one hurts. Like CPR has said about recruiting. It's not the recruits you don't get, it's the recruits you do get and never play that hurt your team.
i think you have missed the point on that quote. its the players that absorb a scholarship for 4-5 years and never play that hurt. in the long run he helped the program by calling it quits early when he knew his heart wasn't in it. he could have half assed it for 5 years and never played. instead, he got out.

Just because you're good at something doesn't mean you have to love it...Definitely a big loss and I obviously wish he would stay with the team, but don't make comments like this without walking a day in his shoes.

This is true, a buddy of mine from high school first team all state 2 years in a row was a big, strong, athletic D tackle from high school, never lifted and would bench press 375 in high school and was offered a scholarship by the good guys and he never even went to college. He didnt really love football just played in high school cause everyone expected him too and we needed him too. Now hes been in and out of jail for the last 10 years.

So you are saying those that thought he may have nfl should have known that he would not carry the mental skills. Maybe they can also project other things like acl injuries, concussions that eliminate pro careers.

I think you missed the word "still" in my post

If he thinks ISU fb is a grind, he's in for a big surprise transferring to wrestle for Iowa.

really? I think Phil stayed at least fours years in that program and graduated from college.

Something isn't right folks. I could understand if the kid is just tired of playing football and doesn't love the game anymore, but then you'd at least stay in school if that were the case.

But he's dropping out of school too. I have a feeling, as some other poster stated, he might have got in with the wrong crowd or something? It's not that he just doesn't want to play football anymore IMO. That might be part of it, but he obviously wants to get away from Iowa State University completely. That's not good.

And this is going to hurt the team big time. Granted he's just a RS freshman, but he was listed as a starter in an already thin group. But I'm even more concerned about why he wants to get away from Iowa State completely.

I have a gut feeling, before all is said and done, that he ends up playing football for the Hawks. You watch. Even if we block him, he'll just sit at home for a year and then go there if he needs to IMO. This sucks.

Classic clonedude post....

Classic bash on clonedude post.

Here we go again. Every time clonedude posts something, some clown feels like they have to bash him and derail the thread instead of taking the time to post something intelligent and constructive to the conversation.

Congrats to you. I really hope you're about 10 years old? Because that's what you sound like. You might as well get over your hatred of me, it's disturbing. Ignore me if you don't like me. But don't act like a whiny little kid. Geeez.

Sorry I posted my feelings about this. I just have a gut feeling he'll go to Iowa. What's the big deal. It's not like that hasn't happened to us before. It's not very far fetched. Ever heard of Barkley Hill? Or Adam Haluska?

Did those guys redshirt, and on the verge of starting only to leave, sit out a year and join the hawks? Uthoff is the closest comparison and to say that isn't a rare but probable makes your post funny. 10 years old? Come on man you can do better. I truly do not hate you so relax.

Barkley Hill switched commitments before signing day. This situation is different. If Bevins transfers he will be two years removed from playing meaningful football. I don't see it happening.

I'm glad he chose to leave when he did, people saying now our DL will be awful, was it going to be great before?

With him, we would have a halfassed effort, now hopefully we get an all-out effort from the next man. The world isn't ending, and if you look at this year, one RS Fr DT isn't going to make or break our season or Run D for that matter. Our DL was already young, and if he didn't see the potential and opportunities that were laid in front of him, then good riddance.

We are better off without him considering his heart isn't in it.

And to clonedude:

I just don't see it happening that way. If he really wanted to transfer to Iowa, why put on this show that he doesn't want to play. It would be pretty stupid and if thats what he wants to do then whatever... Sounds to me like he chose a different life though, not much to the story. Just a kid that wants to have fun more than he wants to put in the work for football. It probably happens a lot more often than we see.
