Meteorological spring starts on 1 March, whereas astronomical spring starts on 20 March.

It's so complicated anymore, two Springs now, does this mean we have two summers, two falls and two winters.

Freezing rain going pretty good downtown DSM right now...looks like Indianola/Boone/Fort Dodge as well....Ames may be changing to snow.

Be careful if you need to go out tonight, driving obviously, but especially walking. Good broken leg weather on the steps outside the station right now.

Sleet now in Beaverdale, freezing on the cars, roads not freezing yet. Not sure if due to treatment or daytime heating.

Snow has begun up around Algona north into southern Minnesota... moving eastward. For those of you up near N IA /S MN don't be surprised at a break in the snow through the middle part of Monday... there's more on the way that evening into Tuesday.

Updates on the roads from Sioux City to DM?

Trying to decide if we should leave today or as scheduled tomorrow.

Should be fine to go tomorrow, Des Moines looks to only be in the lighter amounts and Sioux City gets missed almost entirely.

I think you'd be ok today, but tomorrow probably won't be that bad if you're doing I-29/80.

So far 1-3" in N IA, 1-4" in S MN. Pretty much going as expected up here. A bit of a break into the afternoon from major snow but it will return this evening. Picking up 4-7" tonight with an additional 1-3" into Tuesday.

Heaviest amounts will be seen in SE MN and NE IA in the 8-11" range. 4-9" in North central Iowa.

If this is the 3/4 (75%) weather thread, when do we get the full (100%) weather thread?

Weather reports for over here (Iowa City area) are still saying more snow this afternoon/evening. Unless it's going to make a U turn or something's going to pop up behind the current line, I don't see it.

What's up weather dudes?

I don't know, this storm looks like it is petering out in western Iowa.

crossing my fingers for a snow day! Upgraded to a winter storm warning starting at midnight tonight.
