It's funny to compare how we prepare here to how people prepare back home (east coast).

I've had school cancelled for the threat of 2" of snow when I was younger. Call for 6-10" there and people would practically be stocking up like it's armageddon.

Here, we just root for the Cyclones and make sure we've got enough Templeton.

Chicago isn't supposed to get nearly as much snow and its not supposed to start until early Friday. Also, seeing that the snow in Iowa should start Thursday sometime, if you can get out ahead of the storm you will be fine. Not sure what time its going to start Thursday, though.

No, no, no. It's time to flip the **** out and start looting and raping cause that's what the nerds that look at weather a week in advance say. k, thanks.

Yes, how horrible it is to know in advance that a potential major storm is coming. Because it's not like people have travel plans, or jobs, or school, or medications/dr. visits that might be affected by something like that.

I think it's far better to know well in advance that something like this might be coming, and be pleasantly surprised if/when it turns out to be less severe than anticipated, than to have the opposite happen.

I'll never understand what it is about Americans, or perhaps human nature in general, that makes us so averse to planning ahead and only taking action when the ***** hits the fan. I always think back to Y2K and how people complained that since it didn't turn out to be severe, that it wasn't worth all the hype - as if years of hype didn't lead directly to the preparation and planning that kept it from being severe.

Exactly. When you have a ski tripped planned months in advance, traveling across Iowa/Nebraska on the day this crap is supposed to hit you kind of want to make some contingency plans. Advance notice is very much appreciated.

If you don't like the weather threads, then don't click on the thread. It's not brain science. Some of us like to hear about what's coming no matter how perfect the forecast is a week out.
