I think the BE non-FB schools will definitely jump ship in the next few months as follows:

ND, Nova, Georgetown, SHU, SJU, Providence, Marquette, DePaul
ADD: Xavier, Dayton

If ND joins another conference, then SLU is in. That would be 10 private schools in will populated Metro areas. ESPN would jump all over that and pay them well.

Wonder about Creighton? Would they try to join?

Maybe Creighton can join the Big Ten and Nebraska basketball can play in the MVC or that conference with the Dakota schools. Would be much better fit for everybody. Creighton fans are all 100% Big Ten football fans already and Nebraska's basketball fanbase isn't as large as the Dakota schools so maybe over time they could grow and compete in that league.

Seriously though, Blue Huskers get over 16k a game, that's pretty crazy.

Possibly, along with Butler.

It's my understanding that SLU would prefer being in the Valley than in the A-10 where they are definitely a western outlier. First preference for SLU would be in a conference with the likes of Marquette and DePaul. With SLU's new arena and no NBA team in STL, SLU is now an attractive option for any conference.

What about St. Joe's? They would be a natural rival with Nova. Add them along with SLU.

The 10 schools I listed are all in different metro areas. No need to duplicate Philly so Nova would likely block it. Also, St Joe's facilities/arena are not on the same level with those other 10.

Let's get back to what's really important here...

From an insider on the TX board.

"The FSU AD is full of crap. Maybe he didn't reach out to the Big 12, but FSU definitely reached out to the Big 12. GT, Clemson and Maryland did as well. Bowlsby is getting very aggressive. He thinks the SEC is going to make more moves and wants to beat them to the punch. It sounds like Louisville is actually going to happen in a month or two followed by another shortly after. My bet is on Clemson.

One interesting thing here is that Bowlsby also has some work to do within the Big 12 in convincing them to expand to 14. 8 of the 10 Big 12 schools are for it. Two of them are not. So within our league they have not sorted out which direction to go. The deciding factor may be the tv networks. They may be a major influence as the contracts could go up significantly if the right teams are added."

Clemson fans are starting to sound A LOT like A&M fans did when they got the rabid dog salivation of changing conferences no matter what.

Just about any ESPN story on realignment will have people with "tigers" in their names posting things like "CLEMSON TO BIG 12 in 2013! BANK ON IT!" Their own boards seem to be wildly pro-Big 12 as well.

Haven't noticed it as much from FSU, I think FSU feels like they have more to lose being a clear marquee football program in their current conference. FSU would probably stay tight lipped until it's a done deal and a done deal that dwarfs whatever they'd have in the ACC.

Anyone else notice that ESPN.com has not reported any of Jimbo Fisher's or FSU's BOT comments from the past two days? When Mizzou and Texas A$M we're rumored to be leaving for the SEC (same for Texas and Oklahoma to the PAC 10), they were all over it. Every rumor, quote, and reason for leaving was analyzed and mentioned almost on a daily basis. Now? Crickets.

Makes you wonder if they can credibly cover realignment when their business interests and actions taken suggest they favor SEC expansion/ACC survival.

Let's play TV exec for a minute. You can now have FSU-Texas, FSU-Oklahoma, FSU-Ok. State, FSU-TCU, FSU-WVU. You buying?

Yep

Cliffs From FSU Rivals

If FSU/Clemson join at the very least the Big12 will be pushing 22 million per team thanks to the influx of CCG cash

Big12 would go half in on their ACC exit fees

The powerbase at Clemson feels the same way about the ACC tv deal as the FSU BOR

@Jim_Lamar: Spoke to FSU BOT chair Andy Haggard. 'All I'm saying is FSU needs to keep an open mind if the Big 12 or SEC or anyone else wants to talk'

Looks like the dog days of summer will see the mass defections again, just before football season starts.

The Big 12 would be wise to not reup with ESPN at this time, even with 2 more teams coming. Take the financial 'hit' for 2 years and then open things up to ESPN, NBC and Fox for sure, maybe even CBS. The amount of money that would be thrown around would be more than what is talked about right now.

True...but in order to justify it to their fanbases to jump now, the ACC schools may think it'd be better to take the guaranteed money now even though they'd make less in the long run.

Funny to watch this guy flip flop:

Chadd Scott @ChaddScott

TV deal as preposterously bad as what Yahoo reports could force FSU (& others) to leave ACC
