I know it bothers me more than most, because I have a name that gets misspelled and mispronounced a lot. I cut people slack on it, but try and do my best to get other people's names right because of this.

Sorry if I don't have a life!

P.S. I usually don't publicly correct anyone for misspellings, though. I just groan silently to myself.

I have the same problem. I don't get why nobody can spell/pronounce my last name. It isn't that hard. Add to that the fact that I tend to be a perfectionist, it just drives me nuts when people do misspell a name. One thread I was reading had 'Jiri' spelled 'Juri' like five times:realmad:....yeah, I nearly imploded. I used to correct people, but I gave up. Some people just can't be helped:nah:

Vette CANNOT redshirt unless he got injured and he gets a medical. He's played...no redshirt.

In order for Vette to redshirt at this point the staff would have to invent an injury for him - back spasms could be the ticket.

So anything that isn't a McD's all-American is a project? I went back and counted, on the McD's AA page, (http://www.mcdonaldsallamerican.com/2007_boys_alumni.pdf), and since the big 12 started in 95-96, there have been 21 McD's AA's in the Big 12. KU has signed 15, Texas has signed 8, A&M has one, MU has one, BU has one, and ISU has one. There are 3 schools that have multiple championships in that time: KU, UT, and ISU.

Getting talent in there is great, but I wouldn't consider Nurse, Horton, Shirley, and Rancik to be off the charts can't miss guys. You need role players on teams too. Fizer's freshman year the team went 12-17. Wesley and Brackins have the ability to have a Tinsley/Fizer-esque impact - they just have to get some good role players in here to get the ball to them and hit some shots.

People are bailing out wayyyyy to early on this team, program, and coach.

I never said that...all I said is that I am getting tired of everyone rationalizing away a crappy year by telling me how good we will be when so-and-so matures, gets stronger, learns McDermott's system, etc. My point is simple...we can't always be pointing to a year or two down the line...we need to play and play to win NOW!

By the way, your statistics clearly indicate that we should be recruiting and signing McDonald's All Americans...look what it has done for KU and UT! By the way, our only Big 12 Championships happened to come when we had our only McDonald's guy.

You can take continuity...give me talent every time! Look at UT...lost Durant after one year and they haven't missed a beat because they still have talent on the roster...Augustin, etc.

First, we won our second Big 12 championship without Fizer on the team.

Second, nobody likes pointing a year or two down the line and saying we'll be better then. Nobody. I've been a season ticket holder for a few years now and I never missed a game Morgan's last year when Hilton was a morgue. I just get tired of people complaining about stuff like this - If we're going to play to win NOW, what do you suggest we do? Of course we'd like to win now. Of course the staff would like to win now. Should we have kept Mike Taylor on the team? Don't you think the staff is trying to recruit better talent? It's not easy to just go out and sign a national player of the year, and if it was, every team would do it.

I'm not saying ISU can't recruit that talent. I'm just saying it's never happened in the history of our program so I'm not going to rag on McD for not getting it. He deserves a CHANCE to build this program. I know you're close to LSU #1, and as much as we would like to be, ISU isn't LSU. That doesn't mean we can't be. I just means we aren't right now and this isn't an overnight process.

Another quick question - how many Mickey-Dee All Americans did we have on our one and only Big 8 championship team? My guess would be zero.

Fizer is the only McDonald's All-American in the program's history, so yes, the Big 8 championship happened with no McD's.

I'm sure Barnes has a good shot, but we don't know and he hasn't committed to us yet.

Maybe you haven't been a Cyclone fan for very long. If you're going to be a Cyclone fan you'd better get used to it.
