It's the guys like you that make this board awesome. Us young guys appreciate your awesome posts.

Amen--it's been so awesome to hear everyone's stories. So many people have such vivid memories of their first game, which is pretty cool. Like someone said, taking kids to the games makes them fans for life. Thanks everyone

I was sitting first row in the south end zone bleachers Sept. 7th, 1996 against Wyoming. I was 13 and remember getting into my seat really early and watching Wyoming warming up since they were so close to my seat.

Wyoming won 41-38. I also got an autograph from Troy Davis way after the game.

Wyoming finished rated in the top 25 that season.

2008 versus Kansas. I think we were up 20-0 at the half, and blew the lead in the second half. A good introduction to ISU Football :jimlad:

1981 vs Kansas we lost 11-24. Crutchfield was hurt played anyway, seemed like he carried the ball on every play. We got in with concession worker passes and ended up sitting on the 50 yard line, there were 4 of us we just sat down and were only asked to move twice before landing in those seats. The early 80's were the years of large crowd attendance, we are finally getting those large crowds back in the stadium the last couple of years.

1985 vs iowa. Lost 57-3. Ugh.

In a cold miserable rain too. The marching band had to travel to Arrowhead the next day to do the exact same thing. Sat through a cold rain and then they didn't let us on the field.

My first game was in Sept. 1952. I was a freshmen and that was the first football game I had ever seen. I used to listen to them on radio before that. I believe Dale Williams was the announcer. I would give almost anything to be able to attend now. I am holed up in Baton Rouge(LSU). I still love the Cyclones more. I do listen or watch the Cyclones on TV, Clonezone or listen on radio internet. I cannot believe that there aren't some old ducks like me on Cyclone Fanatic. I wouldn't miss it. I am on it more than hour per day checking what 's happening with the Clones.

1985 ISU Iowa game in ames. Iowa beat us by about 50 and was rated #1 the following week until Ronnie Harmon (accidentally) fumbled 5 times in Pasadena. I was young and dumb at the time growing up in Eastern Iowa so I cheered for the bad guys.

1997 vs. Baylor. Only win of the season. Al Gore was in my home town helping to install wiring for his newest invention, the "Internet", at our school.......I skipped this great event to go watch ISU football and have never regretted it.

*EDIT* - I take that back.Baylor game was my second game. Okla St. in 1995 was my first game. Got to meet Troy Davis after the game and get his autograph! I was one pumped 11 year old! I wonder where that autographed football went.....

I'll never forget that day....it was cold and miserable, raining the whole game, but we managed to pull off the win. Rushed the field, tore down the goal posts for what i believe is the last time in school history, and paraded them down Lincoln Way all the way to Lake Laverne, where we threw them in. I spent the rest of the day hanging out at what would eventually be my fraternity and recall seeing several different groups of guys running by with pieces of the uprights that they had cut off with hacksaws.

October 15th, 1983 versus Colorado. Clones won 22-10. If I knew then how terrible we would be for the next 20 years I might not be a Cyclone fan. But who know that Donnie Duncan was the anti-****** at that time? And that we would hire Jim Freaking Criner of all people. That year was the beginning of the end, that was the first year of the annual *** kicking by Iowa. Colorado was just god awful at the time. So were we. I still have the ticket stub. Awesome.
