What was the first ISU football game you attended?

Drake 1976 We won 58-14. I could swear we had a kickoff return to start the game, but can't find any record of it. Ray Hardee?

Not a kickoff return TD, but a return to the Drake 40 yard line, followed by a 40 yard TD pass from Wayne Stanley to Luther Blue.

Oklahoma State in 1997, was my first semester on campus.

Ditto on all counts - first game, first semester on campus, first time I bailed out on working at food service to do something else.

I believe we lost that game 21-7. IIRC it would be the closest we'd be in any game until we beat Baylor to end the nation's longest losing streak.

That ticket stub is absolutely awesome; thanks so much for sharing! They actually punched holes in it for each game, like a Subway club card???

You might also like this one. Unreserved courtside seats at the old Armory. Nothing an old man like me likes more than a nostalgia thread!

1974 at Clyde Williams. I was 8 years old. All I remember is that Luther returned a kick or punt for a touchdown.

I'm not really sure. My family and I have been going to games for a long time since we live in Ankeny. The oldest one I remember is Kansas State in 98 or 99. We were up big on a good Kansas State team but they came back to beat us in the second half. I remember JJ Moses almost scored at the end of the first half. There were probably some earlier than that I just don't remember.

Ugh, pretty sure that was Parent's Weekend '98, I remember sitting in the West Stands with my father watching that game.

'87, vs. Oklahoma. Wet and we got killed, 3-56. Dad and I stood between the locker room doors, right next to the Cy statue at half, and watched the teams come out. People were throwing oranges at OU, and Dad made sure to point out the Boz. After the game, we rode a bus to a laundromat to dry our clothes.

This was mine too.

IIRC, we named the stadium after Jack Trice that night, and princess Dianna died that night. Anyone know if that is right?

If I'm not mistaken, you are right on both points. That game was the 30th, and Diana died early in the morning on the 31st in Paris.

Mine was 1992 against Ohio. It rained non-stop but we had no trouble putting away the Bobcats. Ahh, the bad old days...Jim Walden, astroturf, yellow helmets, and celebrating if we got a tie.
Haloween (Oct. 31st) 1970 - we lost to Oklahoma by 1 point something like 27-28. Senior in HS and my first ever visit to campus. Hosted by Willie Jones.

It was around 1971, Clyde Williams Field against OKState. We had a breakaway toughdown running in front of the OKS bench and one of the players came off the bench and tackled him. Never forget it. I think the ISU player was Buddy Hardaman.
