Re: ***Offensive Coordinator Search Thread***

I think Herman would have had plenty of opportunities staying @ ISU, but in the end, it's his life, so best wishes to him and his fam. He'll probably be a future candidate for the OC @ OSU if he does well there, so I can see why the decision was made.

All that said, I have plenty of confidence in CPR and think he'll bring in another great OC and possibly even an upgrade now that he's somewhat established. If guys like Wally are willing to come from Florida to Ames to work for CPR, so are a lot of other great coaches.

I still hate the fact that the players will have to learn new terminology, new coaching and a new system on the offensive side, but that's part of today's game I guess.

I believe mark mangino was at Oklahoma when they won their national championship. Character issues aside, he's a Hell of a coach. Hell of an offensivd co.

Kingsbury is overrated I'm telling you. All his success is due to Case Keenum just like all of Chizik's success was due to Cam Newton.

Agreed.

I could have looked like an offensive genius with that offense and that level of competition.

I think we want a run-first spread as opposed to a video game-type spread like Houston. Nothing wrong with that style in the south, but I don't think it would produce consistent results here.

Maybe that had more to do with personnel?

Yup. Looks like a done deal for Sumlin to TAMU, a lot of their fans arent happy about it.

A bunch of uber-conservative Texans are upset about the hiring of a successful, young black football coach? You have GOT to be kidding me.

Since Hermans contract was not renewed, my guess is that Rhoads had a couple guys in mind. I suspect this search will be quick.

I think Mangino's character issues are on par with Leach's.

I'd take that fat bastard in a heartbeat.

Wonder what Steve Loney is doing these days? We had some pretty good offensive teams with him calling the plays.

Coaching for the Rams but probably not for long. Since he didn't even get an interview from Pollard for the HC job when they hired Chizik I doubt either side wants to go that route.

Re: ***Offensive Coordinator Search Thread***

Messingham made our TEs awesome, our WRs had their moments, he was an OC at three other small schools. CPR loves Mess's ability to teach. Don't be surprised and upset if this happens. My guess is he will interview a few candidates. We lose a Mensa, but we still have a Rhoads Scholar.

The most successful programs have consistency of coaching, consistency of recruiting, and consistency of schemes. Seems if we kept the current scheme (terminology, assignments, etc...) with a new coach from the inside we'd accomplish all that.

The coaches offices in the new football office are on the second floor. That's a non-starter for Mangino.

Houston has had a great passing history way before Kliff K. got there
