Baylor wanting 10 makes sense. In the old divisional structure, even if they were better than a few of the north schools, they stayed in the cellar due to playing the full south schedule.

The only delay here is likely MU's intransigence to getting off the pot. The Big 12 can't add a team to a ten team league until there's nine teams.

I believe a conference expansion is a different matter, and doing it has a different set of "rules." Like the SEC, they would likely consider expansion possibilities if they are presented to them. That means there is a lot of behind the scenes work that needs to be done, not the least of which is that a school needs to withdraw from their former conference and formally apply to the Big 12 for admission.

WVU has been notified by the Big 12 that its expansion process is on hold for now

GAAAAAHHHH! Just add WVU, Louisville and BYU/Cincinnati! This isn't difficult, Big XII! Ten team leagues aren't viable in the modern football landscape, why are you twisting yourself in knots trying to stay at ten teams?

If the SEC doesn't mind waiting for a few weeks, and the 6-to-12 month notice window doesn't close until December, what is MU's incentive to leave quickly? They (and TAMU) want to get the lowest negotiated buyout amount they can. If that takes time and leaves things in limbo, it sucks for all of us. But it doesn't affect MU.

I don't see why the league couldn't invite someone in without receiving MU's formal withdrawal; they've abstained from any B12 discussion or vote about expansion for several weeks.

The Big 12 must be committed to only adding 2 teams (TCU and _____) during this period. They must be having trouble coming to a consensus on who #10 is going to be. I agree...add 'em both, and go with Big 10-style unbalanced scheduling for a year or two, until the league decides who it wants for #12.

You really have to feel for the WVU fans throughout all of this...even when many of them are pompous conspriacy theorists. All their team does is win, and yet they've had the rug pulled out from under them so many times its a wonder they don't go indy and call it a day.

Personally, I'm just relieved to see some Big 12 dysfunction that can't be pinned on Missouri. How do you let this rumor expand to include a press conference without pushing back?
At this point, after two-three years of debate of shall I stay or shall I go , Miss Zou still cannot figure how to get off the pot. Two days to two weeks sounds like a rehash of David Boren's comments. Don't they know by now? I mean, how many reports does it take to make a decision. I know it is the Show Me State, but it is looking more like the Show Me the Money State. How long does it take for people to graduate from Mizzou? Not much longer.

The money is there to go to 12 if you bring in teams at 50% revenue. At 10 members each team will get 15million. If the conference goes to 12 then each share is 12.5. A lot of schools have done projects based on the 10 member revenue which maybe why there is some dissension on going to 12.

However the only reason I see for bringing in TCU at 50% revenue is to add 3 more teams once MU leaves. 4 schools at 50% revenue gives 25million to share equally with the original 8 schools. That is 3.125 million per the original 8 schools which would put those 8 schools' share at 15.625 million. There is no drop off in revenue for the remaining 8. Then bring all 12 schools at full share once the Tier 1 deal is redone (guessing around $150 million) which would put each share at 20 million.

I've been saying the same. Plus you have A&M + Mizzou exit fees to figure in as well (although some of that might go to help WVU/Louisville exit the BE sooner)

Source suggested Big 12 might consider adding Louisville AND West Virginia to go to 11. Not great, but Big Ten lived with it for years.

I've been saying this for a week.

God, let this be true. I don't know if this 27 month thing will be a factor in the end or if there's some way around it but if not, logically, wouldn't it make sense to bring them in at the SAME time? I'll be so happy when this stuff finally wraps up and we can move on.

Agreed. Unfortunately, I think it will drag on for a while
