Another I used to have every year or two, but less common recently. Sometimes, I struggle to describe it.

I'm in a building of some kind, sometimes maybe office complex or a set of store shops (not a traditional "mall" setup).

There is a place in the building where I want to go, but it's accessible only through a convoluted route. You have to go up a specific set of stairs, for example, but it might not actually lead to the location.

Or maybe I can see a room/store, but realize the only way to get to it is by going outdoors and entering through a separate door, but I can't find the door.

I also have the one about looking for a bathroom and their either all opposite sex, or aren't where they used to be. Or they are closed. Or I walk in and the toilet is not in the stall, it's been removed. I wake up and yes, I have to get up to pee.
Lol, I have those except the toilets are usually disgustingly overflowing or all in use. One time, quite recently, the toilet was up on a platform in the middle of a cocktail party.
Dreams fascinate me in this regard. Why does your subconscious come up with these bizarre scenarios?

I have a variation of the college test where you aren't prepared or forgot and realize it is almost over. But mine has switched from college to unprepared for RAGBRAI. Usually mine is something like our bus is pulling out of town heading to the start of RAGBRAI and I realize I forgot my tent or forgot my helmet or I didn't pack any cycling clothes, or only packed cycling clothes, or I forgot my bag entirely, or I forgot my bike, or any combination of these. Yeah, I know, RAGBRAI is supposed to be fun...

Usually when I wake up I can trace this dream to stress I am having at the time about being unprepared for something at work.

Thanks so much to @Cyclones_R_GR8 for this thread topic:

“ How are your dreams, Scary, pleasant or just plain weird?
Do you have recurring themes to your dreams?”

I am going to let him share his, but it is really good.

I just have had recurring dreams over the years that I accidentally never quit the job I had in high school at a small supermarket in our tiny town, I suddenly needed to show up and work a shift after working my grown-up job. The dream just goes through that day.

How about you?
I have a recurring dream in an old house that is vaguely familiar and I get the feeling that it's the house where one of my elderly aunts used to live. We used to visit that house as children but it only resembles the house in my dreams. The house in my dreams is a warren of secret passages that open up on unexpectedly gigantic rooms that look like no one has entered them for a hundred years, full of old, dusty furniture that looks valuable.

The other recurring dream I have is also about a house, this one more of a space age, George Jetson type of house with a pool and glass walls and all kinds of modern amenities. This house is owned by my rich uncle, although he never owned a house like that anywhere except in my dream.

I have several recurring dreams that vary in intensity.

1) I'm in college and it's finals week. I realize that there's a class I've completely forgotten about and haven't attended. The final is that day, and I have absolutely 0 chance of passing.

2) I'm going back to college as a non-traditional student and am forced to move into the dorms as a 30 something. I inevitably meet a girl, start dating, and then my wife shows up. In the dream it wasn't that I was intentionally cheating, it's that I had completely forgotten that I had a wife and family at home.

3) I'm in Ames for the first football game of the year. I never get to my tailgate on time, and then I can never find my seat in Jack Trice as the game unfolds. Jack Trice and Ames look completely different and unrecognizable in my dreams than they do in real life. I just "know" that I'm there.

4) I am somewhere where a tornado is bearing down on my property. I'm trying to get things squared away before it hits. I always wake up before it hits.
#1 sounds like my actual college experience

I have had multiple dreams throughout my adult life (teens to now) about being in nuclear explosions. It's really odd. Sometimes I'll wake myself up before anything bad happens to me, but I witness the mushroom cloud(s). But once I actually felt the heat from the blast as it reached me. Instantly woke up.

Have also witnessed multiple passenger jet crashes in my dreams. One was at the house I grew up in and I kept hearing the sound of airliners screaming overhead and I'd look out the window to see them go up in a fireball in the fields around the property. I'd hear another one and run to another window and see the same thing. Very odd. Side note: there WAS a private plane that flew directly over our house and crashed about three miles to the southwest sometime in the early 80s, killing the family that was traveling in it. Maybe that had something to do with the plane crash dreams later on? I have also had a couple dreams where I've been on a plane that was going down, but was able to wake myself up before impact. That's the type of thing that gets your heart beating a bit faster when you jolt awake!

Fortunately, these types of dreams weren't frequent. But they sure stood out since I remember so many of them plain as day.

I've had a recurring dream for probably the last few years, sometimes I'd have it multiple times a week. We were moving away from our home in Warren County back to the house we lived in in C.R. (NE side, Bowman Woods) when our daughters were young. Every time I have it I realize, in the dream, that this is a dream I've been having but I swear in each one that this time it's real. We've moved in, re-introduced ourselves to neighbors, and I'm struggling with it because I much prefer our home here and the DSM area in general so I'm wondering if moving back was the right move... but it doesn't matter, because the move is done and we're back in C.R. house whether I like it or not.

Very vivid, and each time it's more real than the last. In the research I've done it says it might be an indication that I'm longing for a simpler time, less stress, less anxiety, etc., that's come with our daughters being older and dealing with their own anxiety/depression issues vs. when they were younger and in elementary school.

I don't remember most of my dreams but the ones I do rarely are scary ones The one that is probably he most reoccurring is I am back in college my senior year and it's finals week and for some reason I forgot my class schedule or I have skipped too much class and don't know most of the answers to the questions on the final test and worry if I fail the class I won't graduate. They say a lot of your dreams are your brain processing memories or something that recently happened or your were thinking about. The dream about college probably goes back to the time I was worried about getting into the right classes so I didn't have to spend an extra semester just to finish a course I couldn't get into soon enough as well as a few times I was worried about passing a class I was struggling in.

Not exactly sure.
I don’t remember a lot of my dreams, had a few in the past where there were times I had Deja vu situations and realized I had dreamed about what was happening to me. Three times involved parts of my ambulance rides or injuries. There are other similar ones that I don’t remember exactly now but realized it when it happened IRL.

I have all kinds of weird dreams but there are 2 recurring ones. One is I'm in a hotel and can't find my room. Often involving a casino which is weird because I'm not a gambler. The other is I'm driving and can't get where I'm trying to go. These tend to happen when I'm designing a new software feature or debugging some issue so my subconscious isn't very complicated to figure out.

I once had a dream where a friend from work and I were out partying and got arrested. I don't know what happened to him but I got put in a cell for the night.
The next morning I woke up and was just lying there, thinking about how much I messed up and wondering what all the repercussions would be. I finally decided that the only thing I could do was face it so I started to crack open my eyes. I soon realized I wasn't in the cell anymore. So now I started trying to figure out how I got bailed out and home.
Slowly I came to the realization that is was a all a very realistic dream and I had this absolute wave of relief wash over me.
