Olde Main (not just for beer).

Es Tas. I wouldn't go much past the tacos, but damn, those are good tacos.

I guess I'm not that up to date on the "non student bar/drunk food" scene in Ames these days, but these are some places I miss/seek out whenever I'm in Ames. Especially West Street. When I lived on Hyland, I always headed there after football games to soak up the tailgating booze.

Pizza - Black Market
Fancy/Pricy but excellent - Aunt Maude's
Upscale Modern Menu - The Cafe' (Alwyas something new on the menu)
Less expensive Good Steaks - "Burn Your Own" (The Open Flame in Gilbert) - Remember you pay for atmosphere...

Not really a restaurant, but Super Dog is always a good one at 1 in the morning and drunk off your ***.

My favorites though would be HP, Ol' Main and El Azteca.

Black Market Pizza

I went there for lunch one day and got a slice of pepperoni and a slice of their chicago style and it was probably on par with the worst pizza I've ever had.

GeAngelos has good Italian food. I'd definitely recommend West Street Deli and Downtown Deli for sandwiches

Pazessco, the Spice, and the Cafe

The 3 listed above are really good. there are good local pizza joints, Open Flame up in Gilbert, Old Main. On BBQ HP is nice they give you a lot a food fast for little $, and the Ice Cream is good but seriously I can make better BBQ in my back yard and I have only had a pit for this summer. Try one of the other local BBQ places.[/quote]

Black Market Pizza and West Street Deli are pretty tough to beat.

Just as a side note, West street deli is under some new managment so their hours are better then they were and I guarntee their food is going to be better too.

Yes! I loved Cafe Northwest. The old lady and I used to go there often.
And that is exactly what I would have ordered! The steaks were always good and the Greek spaghetti was a perfect side.
