seriously these moderators are way to pc. wouldnt want to hurt anyones feelings.
I'm not going to say that, because as a whole I think the Mods do a good job. My comment was attacking anyone personally.

Depends on how good of a squid, puke, whatever SAE calls freshman you are. If you mind the rules you won't get hazed as much. Not that big a deal on time commitment. You are expected to do certain things, sometimes at certain times, get them done and no problems.
More athletic than most of the people I ref (cough bigcyfan82 cough :winkOh poor ref, not athletic enough or doesnt have 4 friends to form a team...gets revenge by getting behind the whistle.
Did my comment get deleted? If so makes no sense.

This could not be more wrong. Although I do not know exactly what goes on "behind closed doors" everywhere, Iowa State is a non-hazing university for all activities, Sports, Clubs, Drama, and Fraternities. The university looks very very negatively on hazing and any report of it is taken care of very quickly.
Joining a fraternity has been one of the best decisions for me, meeting all of my best guy and girl friends through the numerous activities. Just like every organization you will ever join, you will only get as much benefit out of this as you put forth. If you sit in your room studying or playing video games all day, sure you wont have many time commitments, but you'll never meet anyone. Yell Like hell is a huge time commitment but its a great time too, my best girl friend now, was my partner for it freshman year, and the after parties are always fun.
Of course the official stance is harshly against hazing! I challenge you to find a single school that DOESN'T have a policy like that. Of course, there are also harsh university policies against cohabitation, embezzlement, and cheating, but please don't tell me you think none of those things ever happen anywhere. Hazing is a violation of policy, and is illegal in most cases, but it sure as hell still happens- at Iowa State and most other places. I heard and saw it firsthand myself on MANY occasions while I was at ISU.Iowa State is a non-hazing university for Fraternities. Hey all i recently signed with a fraternity and i am wondering what to expect with the time commitment for pledge class, parties etc. thanks:notworthy:
The world is ending. I agree with ornryactor. :no:Anyone who believes we live in a happy, shiny world where hazing doesn't exist is either naive, gullible, or downright stupid.
Yeah we streaked around sorority circle. It would be just some random night and a couple older guys would do it with all the freshman. A fast couple minute run, no car horns or anything. The world is ending. I agree with ornryactor.
I can think of AT LEAST 5 separate occasions I've seen hazing. Greeks never understand why some people hate the Greek system without trying it and that's exactly why. I'd be embarrassed to be involved with making a bunch of guys run around campus naked and calling attention to it by driving in front of them honking the horn on my truck. That's REALLY awesome when a university police officer or Ames officer sees that and you now have a bunch of guys that are going to get nailed for indecent exposure and end up on the sex offender registry. Sounds real intelligent to me.![]()

Expect at least 6 hours/week of time committed to yell like hell until homecoming. IIrc, practice is 8-10 p.m. or 9-11 pm Tues, Thurs, and Sun. All your time practicing yell like hell will be well worth it if you get to paint up for semis and finals (especially when helping to paint up the sorority girls you're paired with.)
:biglaugh::biglaugh: Yeah, if you get to paint up for semis or finals your life will be changed forever...makes it all worth it to get to embarass yourself on gameday in front of the whole ISU fan base rather than just your fellow fratboys.
