Umm, the FedEx deal for Memphis to a BCS conference was reported at $10M per year. Since there are now 10 teams in the Big 12, split ten ways, $10M/10 Teams = $1M per team per year. How the heck are you getting 5-6? Memphis isn't going to drive a ton more money on our TV contract.

Also, why do we need even numbers necessarily? We aren't having a championship game anymore. The Big 10 has worked with 11 for years.

Add one and find some clever way to hide an 11 inside our logo.

So have any mainstream media outlets picked this up? Or has there been an official announcement of a press conference for the Big 12 to deliver the news?

As an ISU fan, I hesitate to get too excited before it is officially carved in stone.

I dont see why we HAVE to go to 9 conference games. The big 10 hasnt had a championship ever and hasnt played everyone, or gone to a 9 game schedule to only miss 1\yr. Id rather stay at 8 conference games.

I wonder how long they'll resist wanting to have a conference championship game again, ie big 12 rebuilding.

When is this "announcement within minutes"?

And isn't it ironic...the Big 10 to have 12 teams and the Big 12 to have 10 teams.

10mil / 12 (adding two teams for even #'s) = 833,333 per team. Not sure where you are coming up with 5-6 million.

We would also have to split this new TV deal up (unevenly) between all 11 teams.

Memphis would end up getting mroe than 10 mil per year for the TV deal.

It would be a net loss.

Definitely need someone from the "north" to rise up, how much money/interest does the big 12 lose not having last years texas/nu game on a yearly type basis?

a conference championship game is probably going to HAVE to happen eventually with the super conferences starting. here's how you could do it: make 2 5 team divisions. you play everyone in your division once and you rotate three teams you play from the other division. you would play someone from the other division 2 years in a row, but im sure it could work

meh........not much I don't think. I think any team who is in that game will bring the fans. I tell you, I think we lose more money if there is an upset and we don't get a team to the NC because of it.
