oh and 94-2000, just about every b-ball game all I ever heard was option #2, Now that I'm all growed up, I wish I could say I had sung #1, but I can say I agee that I cringe now every time I hear it. It is classless, but I suppose a right of passage.

Its not really about disrespecting the song. I can't think of anyone that would really care about that, its about what we sound like on t.v. and to the little ears around us.

option #1 can at least be considered cute.

There are no words to the song. And CAC had nothing to do with the song not being played at basketball games, that's all the Athletic dept. In fact, if Athletics had their way, the band would never play it at all.

Never heard the first option. Maybe someone should come up with some actual lyrics

There are no lyrics other than about five words and the song is directly affiliated to the university so when all of you put down that song you put down the university.

Lol.. i've got no problem with 'go cyclones go', but saying its putting down the university when you put down anything connected to it is kind of a joke. Is it putting ISU down to say that Helser sucks?

Apples to oranges. Helser doesn't represent ISU, go cyclones go does. Why can't the students chant that instead? Instead they use a derogatory term during a song that encompasses the entire university.

Maybe i'm just being too sensitive......

Yet another thread in which Phaedrus is disagreed with by a bunch of people and doesn't bother to post again. This is getting to be a daily thing.
It's stupid effing and I've never heard the other version.

Ok, well you asked for it...

Well, if you've never heard of the other version, it must not be true, because the world began starting with your birth and attendance of ISU. Thanks for straightening us "old folks" out about that.

Frankly, the second version of words doesn't even fit into the tempo. Not even mentioning that certain people's idea of wit is dropping "F" bombs.

And since I've been to games, starting circa 1973, it's been "and I don't care". I think it used to be a quaint piece of unique fan lore. You know, the kind that young fans claim that ISU does not have. Kind of like the 5 clap.

As far as continuing to argue with people who don't have a point, except to turn to personal attacks, why would I do something as stupid as that? It's the proverbial "mud wrestling a pig" argument.

No, you're being mature. And rather forward thinking. I applaud this.

Didn't the Prez's wife have issue with the F-bomb? I'm almost sure we got an e-mail about it at some point last year.

While we're at it, can someone get the real lyrics to "Mony, Mony" back? That used to be a good song until the guidos, frat boys and knuckledraggers had to add their stupid to it.

We better re-write the fight song. The words don't fit the tempo. :skeptical:

I'm pretty sure it fits it just fine... just splits the notes in half for each syllable. Not like its really stretching to fit.

Thought you were anti-name calling?
I didn't say the naughty version was the right one just that it's the only one I've ever heard. I don't really care what version is sung but I guess if I was a parent of a young child at Hilton it might make me cringe a little. It would serve as a good opportunity to let my son/daughter know that people take words way too seriously though.

I could agree, if the comments weren't all upity. Being mature is one thing, but I thought it was overkill.

Like I said, I wish I had not chosen option 2, but we all do stupid things, and its not life altering. I think we'll all be okay and our university and society isn't crumbling. Its stupid fun. Over interpreting something isn't a sign of maturity, its pompus.

Okay, so what are the right lyrics to Margaritaville? Is it God damn salt or mother ******* salt? I need to know for the next time I'm drunkenly singing it.
