Who ever the next guy is, we need to make sure that he is a good recruiter. We are losing a good recruiter in Ash and we need to replace one. Also, who is going to be the new recruiting coordinator, someone already on staff, or the new person coming in?

well, technically you don't have to do anything.

Demontie Cross would be a good replacement---coached at ISU from 2001-2005 and has been with the Bills since.

I wanted Atif last year when Rhoads was hired. Now if he can make the switch to the defensive side of the ball in coaching. He was a four year starter in the D backfield and worked with the secondary and linbackers as a Grad asst. at SW Minn. St. Go get him!

I agree but my only issue with Austin is recruiting. How is he at recruiting and we lose a ton, from the recruiting standpoint, if we lose Ash and replace him with Austin. Atif hasn't had to go out of Iowa or Minnesota to recruit. That would be my only concern

I think with Bobby we break even from a coaching standpoint, but slip a few notches on the recruiting front.

I could see Atif growing into a very good recruiter because he would likely relate very well due to his age, but his coaching experience leaves something to be desired.

I do think it will be one of these two. Both have positives and negatives. I would've rather kept Ash.

Atif could go down to FLorida very easily. We would lose out on Cali but another Florida recruiter is fine by me.

Boise State's DC is gone to Tenn. for those who wanted someone from Boise State.

Their DB coach played at BSU, so I doubt he's willing to leave, even for a raise. My choices would be:

1.Wally's old DB coach at USF (don't know the name)
2.David Blackwell (may have to move some coaches around as he usually coaches LBs)
3.Bobby Elliott
4.The DB coach at TCU
5.Atif Austin, I wonder if he can make the transition back to the defensive side. I'd LOVE to get him if Pope ever left.

Here's a thought. It may not be very good, but it's intresting I think. Let's say Jesse Smith doesn't make it into the NFL. From everything I have heard he has tremendous FB IQ. Would he not be a pretty good option, also relatively cheap allowing for maybe another position addition.

I know this won't happen but I would not be disappointed if it did.

Wouldn't we rather have someone WITH coaching and recruiting experience to replace a guy who was in charge of recruiting at a BCS schools and who brought many years of experience to the table?

You sir are freakin nuts. I thought you wanted the team to get better? I am not saying someday he wouldn't be a nice coach, but this has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever read on here.
