Road construction around Lawrence

I know a lot of people stay in the Lenexa/Olathe area so I wanted to warn you about the drive.
K10 is down to one lane for about a 10 mile stretch and is slow going because no one knows
how to zipper merge. In Lawrence 23rd St is under construction and is slow going until about
Haskell. Expect delays and plan your trip accordingly. I am sorry that I can not provide an alternative route because I do not know the back roads that well.

On That Note: Anyway, Anywhere, Anyhow

Welcome back to “On That Note,” CF’s weekly hub for music exploration, hosted by @MeanDean, @CycloneRulzzz and cyclones500.

This segment is adapted from a suggestion sent to us by @IsUaClone2: Songs with at least one compound word in the title. Lyrics alone do not count, nor do band names or album titles.

We’re fairly lenient for what is accepted, as long as (1) it fits textbook definition of compound (2) is fashioned as a compound word in the title (ex: “everyday” as adjective works; “every day” wouldn’t) and (3) is an actual word in somewhat common use (songwriters occasionally get creative and invent words).

I'll post 3 to get us into the compound.

One way to air your grievances.

I honestly can't think of anyone I'd want to get back at or whatever from past lives including those that really ****ed with me.

However, there's a few times I'd like to go back in time and beat my own ass during a couple of phases.

Late 90s nu metal phase might be #1 on the list.

Downtown Ames

I wanted to get peoples thoughts on downtown Ames after last weeks discussion on the Miller and Williams pod. Downtown was described as not great which I thought was funny because I think it’s actually gotten better the last few years with more businesses opening up.

High-end food: Maude’s and Cornbred
Sports bars: Sweet Carolines and Whiskey
Wine and cocktail: Noir and Della Viti
Pubs and Breweries: London and Torrent
Other: GPSD, Coffee Shops, Downtown Deli, Time-out barcade, Cigar Lounge, Ice Cream shop a few other spots I’m forgetting.

I’ll admit I’m usually only there for lunch and the occasional happy hour but I think it’s better than it’s been in a really long time. And it sounds like the pool hall is opening up again soon too.
What are your thoughts?

  • Poll Poll
Poll: Targeting Rules

What should the targeting rules be?

  • Eliminate the rule. Nobody seems to know what targeting is anyways.

    Votes: 8 7.8%
  • 15 yard penalty. No ejection

    Votes: 15 14.7%
  • Degrees of targeting: Targeting 1 - 15 yard penalty only; Targeting 2 - 15 yard penalty and Ejection

    Votes: 75 73.5%
  • Keep current rules as is.

    Votes: 4 3.9%

I understand the importance of player safety but these targeting rules seem a little ridiculous. Do you think the rules need to change regarding targeting? If so, what should they be? Feel free to add to the discussion.
