Howard Brown enters transfer portal

Iowa State has lost some depth along its defensive front.

Redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Howard Brown has entered the transfer portal, according to Rivals’ Chris Hummer. The 6-foot-2, 325-pound defensive tackle appeared in six games last season for Iowa State.

Those six appearances in reserve and special teams roles led to two tackles on the year for Brown.

Iowa State is facing replacing two key pieces along its defensive line, but the tackle and nose spots are not among them. Isaiah Lee is returning for another season while Tyler Onyedim and Domonique Orange have both emerged as key players at the interior positions.

Brown’s notoriety within the program grew before he’d ever even arrived in Ames as he starred at quarterback and defensive line for his high school program.
