The Cyclones will be losing both Bailey brothers for 2021.

Defensive tackle Joshua Bailey announced he has entered the transfer portal as a graduate transfer on Thursday. This comes several days after his brother, JaQuan, Iowa State’s all-time leader in sacks, announced he is declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft.

Josh Bailey played sparingly during the first three years of his career but became a key piece of the Cyclones’ defensive line rotation in 2020. He recorded 15 total tackles and five tackles for loss during his redshirt junior season while appearing in all 12 games for Iowa State.

Bailey’s decision to transfer leaves Iowa State with Isaiah Lee as the only defensive tackle with extensive experience returning in 2021. Enyi Uwazurike will have the option to return, but he has not announced whether or not he intends to use the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Cyclones do have Tucker Robertson and redshirt freshman JR Singleton returning at the position. Robertson has played in spurts during his career while Singleton appeared in three games for the Cyclones this past season while redshirting.

Iowa State is adding three-star defensive tackle prospects Howard Brown and Tyler Onyedim in the 2021 recruiting class.
