Iowa State football has its second commitment of the 2022 recruiting cycle and it comes at the sport’s most important position.
Zephyrhills, Fla. native Rocco Becht announced his pledge to Matt Campbell’s program on Friday via his personal Twitter account. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound three-star prospect, according to 247Composite, plays high school ball for Winegrass Ranch.
Rated as the No. 47 pro-style signal-caller in the class, Becht chose Iowa State over offers from Ole Miss, Wake Forest, Toledo, Harvard, Columbia and a handful of other programs plus interest from West Virginia.
Becht, the son of former NFL tight end Anthony Becht, will enter a quarterback room in Ames next year likely to be led by one of the Cyclones’ redshirt freshmen duo Hunter Dekkers and Aidan Bouman with Brock Purdy entering his senior year this fall.
This gives Iowa State two commitments in the 2022 recruiting class along with Sergeant Bluff-Luton linebacker Jacob Imming, who made his pledge all the way back in January. The 2022 recruiting cycle is expected to heat up considerably in the coming months with the moratorium on visits coming to an end at the end of May.
