Iowa State’s Breece Hall has been tabbed as one of the nation’s best running backs in the preseason.

The sophomore from Wichita was named to the Doak Walker Award watch list on Wednesday. The Doak Walker is given annually to the nation’s best running back.

A former four-star recruit out of Wichita Northwest, Hall burst onto the scene during the last eight games of Iowa State’s 2019 campaign, finishing the season as the team’s leading rusher with 897 yards and nine touchdowns. He also added 23 receptions for 252 yards and a touchdown.

Those numbers earned Hall first-team Freshman All-American honors from 247Sports and Pro Football Focus, plus second-team All-Big 12 honors from the league’s coaches.
