AMES, Iowa – For the second year in a row, Iowa State star running back Mike Warren has been named to the Doak Walker Award Watch List.

The Doak Walker Award is given annually to the nation’s top running back and is named after, Doak Walker, who was a star in the 1940s for SMU and later was a four-time All-Pro selection in the NFL.

A native of Lawton, Okla., Warren emerged as one of the best running backs nationally after a sensational freshman season in 2015. Warren led all FBS rookie running backs in rushing last year with 1,339 yards, the third-best freshman total in Big 12 history.

Warren posted six 100-yard games in 2015, including an ISU-freshman-record 245 yards vs. Texas Tech. He broke ISU’s season record by averaging 5.9 yards per carry.
