BLOG: And the rankings say…

AMES — Following an impressive week that featured two critical road victories at Oklahoma State and Texas, the Iowa State (20-6, 10-4) men’s basketball team moved up two spots to No. 12 in the AP Top 25 on Monday morning. 

Notably, Wednesday night’s opponent, the Baylor Bears (20-7, 8-6), will be the 19th ranked team in America when the teams lock up in Hilton Coliseum at 8 p.m. (ESPNU). 

Five Big 12 teams are ranked this week (Kansas at 8, Iowa State at 12, Oklahoma at 16, Baylor at 19 and West Virginia at 20) while Oklahoma State and Texas are still receiving votes.

*** Gary Parrish of CBShas Iowa State ranked 12th in his top 25 (plus one) column. 

*** ESPN "Bracketologist" Joe Lunardi has Iowa State as a 3-seed (vs. Sam Houston State) in Louisville as of Monday morning. Lunardi has seven Big 12 teams dancing in March. 

*** Meanwhile, CBS "Bracketologist" Jerry Palm has Iowa State tabbed as a 3-seed in Omaha (vs. UC Davis). 

*** Iowa State has cracked the top 10 in the RPI. The two road wins boosted the Cyclones to No. 9 as of Monday morning. Take a look here…
