Rankings Recap: Where the Cyclones stand for the final week of the season

Welcome to the final week of college basketball’s regular season. Time flies, eh?

After going 1-1 last week with a convincing win over West Virginia and seven-point road loss to Kansas State, Iowa State (22-6, 10-6) dropped one spot to No. 16 in the AP Top 25 this week. Meanwhile, the Cyclones stayed put at No. 17 in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll.

Iowa State will travel to Baylor for a 6 p.m. tip on ESPN2 Tuesday night. The Cyclones will round out the regular season by hosting Oklahoma State for a 1 p.m. tip on Saturday.

*** CBSSports.com’s Gary Parrish kept Iowa State at No. 10 in his week’s Top 25 (and one) rankings.

*** ESPN Joe Lunardi bracketologist Joe Lunardi has the Cyclones as a 3-seed in his latest NCAA Tournament projections.

*** Meanwhile, CBS bracketologist Jerry Palm has Iowa State as a 4-seed.

*** According to the CBSSports.com RPI, Iowa State dropped to No. 11 after Saturday night’s loss

*** Iowa State is currently No. 14 according to ESPN’s BPI. It’s also interesting that the BPI ranks Iowa State’s strength of schedule as the fourth hardest in America.

*** Iowa State is No. 26 in the current rankings at KenPom.com.
