It's gotten to the point in the season where record and weather have combined to make my wife less than enthusiastic about coming to the games with me. I am thinking about bringing our 4yo with me this weekend and I'm wondering what tips people might have for best extending our stay at Jack Trice on Saturday.

If you're willing to do so, I would suggest sitting on the hillside instead of your regular seats. It allows your kid to move around without bothering everyone around you.

It's not as comfortable as sitting in seats, but I've had luck with my kids in that area.

Little one might also make some friends in the Little Clone Club.

Yea, I figured we'd try to start in our seats (lots of friendly, understanding people in our section) and be ready to migrate if we need to. Honestly, my goal is make it to halftime and if we do better, that's gravy.

My seats are near the goal line on the SE side and there have been tons of open seats in the new seating in the SE corner. If you feel like you need to move there will be plenty of open seating to let the little rascal play in. A box of Sour Patch Kids usually buys me about a quarter if that helps you any :D

Is duct tape an option?

Any other parenting tips?

We took a 6, 3 and 5 month old to our last game. As long as you go into with the standpoint of "we will watch as much as we can then get the **** out of there" you'll be good.

Oodles...should I start a thread? :D

Reminds me of this last April Fools day. I told the boys in the morning that I got an email that school was cancelled.

My eldest started dancing he was so happy.

Then I told them "April Fools".

I don't think they'll ever have that same level of trust in me again.

Bring some sort of electronic gadget. If you have a portable DVD player or something that can play movies, even better.

Smartphone and as many snacks and stadium treats as they want. Not always an option, but when my kid was little we always sat in the front row of the corners. Visits from Cy, cheerleaders, players, police officers, etc. almost entertained him through games, almost.

I've taken my 3 yr old twins every home game this year and we sit on the hillsides. Half the game we play "Look for Cy", we watch the cheerleaders / dancers, watch the band. There is more than enough there to keep them entertained.

We always go early to tailgate (usually get to the stadium by 8:00am for morning kickoffs), then we walk around the parking lots, score some breakfast from friends, go to the Little Cyclones area to get their faces painted, then get into the stadium by 30 mins until kickoff. Kids LOVE to watch the Band and the intro video with the Football team running onto the field. But.....We make it a hard plan to leave by the end of the 3rd quarter!

Both of my boys have been going regularly since they were 3 or so. I made keychains for them to shake on kickoffs, give them the binoculars to look around, and someone always makes a halftime trip to the concessions/restroom. We stay until the end - even can see my oldest asleep as I carried him down to the field after the oSu win on the poster the next year.

You know your kid, what they'll tolerate. My oldest is 9 now, he went with us to KU last week; my youngest would never "waste a 'stay at home day'" on driving to an away game...

If you search the forum, you might be able to find a thread from last season that contained a lot of good advice.

Key is to break up the game/add variety so they are not having to sit the entire time.

-- take break to get snacks/food during game. Don't get stuff on way in.
-- go down to the fence near the pyrotechnics where players come in before the game so they can see them up close
-- go down to the fence on other side of the tunnel and watch players come out of locker room after half time. Some will give them high fives if close enough
-- take a walk around the entire concourse to just look around, people watch, grab a bite/treat
