Actually it was Northwestern Steakhouse I believe. It was a spin off of the legendary Northwestern Steakhouse in Mason City. They moved to Duff and became the equally misnamed Northwest Cafe. Steak and Greek cuisine served by their Greek immigrant owners.
This I don't know. I was out of Ames by the time it moved and became Northwest Cafe. I think I went there once...maybe twice. I do remember being there while a Kansas game was on the tube. We were making relentless fun of Mangino about how ISU could beat him by having someone frying up bacon right behind the KU bench to distract him.
Belly dancers does ring a bell from way back, but I have no idea if it really happened or I am thinking of something else. In any case, I never saw it. But even if it did, people seem to have a lot of misconceptions about belly dancing like it is just one step above stripping. Generally it isn't like that.
Honestly, I don't care for the Northwestern Steak house in Mason City. Your plate comes out and the steak is sitting in a pool of butter. First, for someone who is lactose intolerant, you are looking at pure hell at that moment. Second the seasoning is the same for everything and while on chicken, I don't mind greek seasoning, on steaks not so much. Third, the cuts of meat that I have received there the few times I've went have been poorer than at other steakhouses I've been to.
I believe it did. Enjoyed the food there - we knew couple of friends who worked there.
Parent's love going to Mr. Steak when I was a kid. That is until I got too old to order off the kids menu.
There was a "Bitchen' Kitchen" at North Grand Mall. It moved to Duff, at some point.
The KFC buffet was crazy, I would consume only and so many biscuits. Godfathers pizza buffet, a buddy would bring a backpack and a roll of foil. We called their dessert pizza “goodie pizza”.
Yup. Lost and Found Lounge. Daiquiris and a shots menu were their thing. Everyone went there on their 21st BD for shots. The “dead Mexican goat” put me over the top on my BD.
I think when it was on Duff (Boulder Tap House, Okoboji, Indigo Joes area) they did.
They moved behind Tip Top for some reason and it really went downhill.
Godfathers Pizza buffet was so damn good.
If I remember right they used to have super cheap(maybe free?) Buffalo wings in a warmer in the lounge area. I used to go in there as a teen and get served under age. Had a really bad fake ID that was obviously not me but the bartender just gave a wink and I tipped well.
The lounge, if I'm remembering right was to the left (Duff side) and was kind of a glass atrium?
Years back I went to a Godfathers in the metro, and eating at one of the tables was the guy that played 'the godfather' in their commercials, full suit and all. It was hilarious and random.
Yeah we just had GF's last Saturday night. Their combo on original crust is elite.
I believe it was a few blocks north closer to Applebees across from the old Humbres/Johnny Orr's.
I will never understand the love for Taco Time. I tried it 5 or 6 times because I just thought I must be missing something.
