Actually it was Northwestern Steakhouse I believe. It was a spin off of the legendary Northwestern Steakhouse in Mason City. They moved to Duff and became the equally misnamed Northwest Cafe. Steak and Greek cuisine served by their Greek immigrant owners. So Nw steakhouse was on the east end? Seems wrong
Did Northwest cafe have belly dancers on certain nights?Actually it was Northwestern Steakhouse I believe. It was a spin off of the legendary Northwestern Steakhouse in Mason City. This I don't know. I was out of Ames by the time it moved and became Northwest Cafe. I think I went there once...maybe twice. I do remember being there while a Kansas game was on the tube. We were making relentless fun of Mangino about how ISU could beat him by having someone frying up bacon right behind the KU bench to distract him.Did Northwest cafe have belly dancers on certain nights?
Honestly, I don't care for the Northwestern Steak house in Mason City. Your plate comes out and the steak is sitting in a pool of butter. First, for someone who is lactose intolerant, you are looking at pure hell at that moment. Second the seasoning is the same for everything and while on chicken, I don't mind greek seasoning, on steaks not so much. Third, the cuts of meat that I have received there the few times I've went have been poorer than at other steakhouses I've been to.Actually it was Northwestern Steakhouse I believe. I believe it did. Enjoyed the food there - we knew couple of friends who worked there.Did Northwest cafe have belly dancers on certain nights?
Parent's love going to Mr. Steak when I was a kid. That is until I got too old to order off the kids menu. That was an every other weekend with my parents when we didn't go to Mr Steak. Mr Steak had great steaks and texas toast as big as yer head.
There was a "Bitchen' Kitchen" at North Grand Mall. It moved to Duff, at some point. In speaking of restaurants, Country Kitchen that is, can’t remember if one was in Ames back in the day, but Boone had one like 25 years ago. What happen to them? I thought it was good restaurant.
The KFC buffet was crazy, I would consume only and so many biscuits. Godfathers pizza buffet, a buddy would bring a backpack and a roll of foil. We called their dessert pizza “goodie pizza”.After a few trips, I started to believe that they probably cleaned that place at least monthly.
Well, maybe not monthly, but they might have thought about it sometimes.
Yup. Lost and Found Lounge. Daiquiris and a shots menu were their thing. Everyone went there on their 21st BD for shots. The “dead Mexican goat” put me over the top on my BD.Lost and found I think. I was only there once and was hammered - not sure if its still there.
I think when it was on Duff (Boulder Tap House, Okoboji, Indigo Joes area) they did.Did Northwest cafe have belly dancers on certain nights?

If I remember right they used to have super cheap(maybe free?) Buffalo wings in a warmer in the lounge area. I used to go in there as a teen and get served under age. Had a really bad fake ID that was obviously not me but the bartender just gave a wink and I tipped well.I think when it was on Duff (Boulder Tap House, Okoboji, Indigo Joes area) they did.
They moved behind Tip Top for some reason and it really went downhill.
The lounge, if I'm remembering right was to the left (Duff side) and was kind of a glass atrium? If I remember right they used to have super cheap(maybe free?) Still is. I just went to one in the cities up here two days ago.Godfathers Pizza buffet was so damn good.
Years back I went to a Godfathers in the metro, and eating at one of the tables was the guy that played 'the godfather' in their commercials, full suit and all. It was hilarious and random.Still is. I just went to one in the cities up here two days ago.
Yeah we just had GF's last Saturday night. Their combo on original crust is elite.Still is. I just went to one in the cities up here two days ago.
I believe it was a few blocks north closer to Applebees across from the old Humbres/Johnny Orr's.Wasn't it where the Mongolian Buffet is now at the intersection of Duff and Highway 30? I remember the sign back in like 2004
