You get one restaurant that’s closed in Ames to come back…

Not exactly sure.
Good bread sticks. That is all.
It had gotten really bad. My son said him and his roommate went once last year. His roommate was given the wrong food and the waiter just said, that’s too bad and left. Service was awful and they were blowing stuff up in the microwave left and right.

Donut joint that was either the flowerama or right next to it. Worked at McDs where their parking lot is now. We would trade food for donuts or taco John’s next door.

Ok to be real some that I would like:

Ruttles
DaVinci's
Gumbi's

Although as far as today the only one I would probably visit is Ruttles. The other 2 you really have to live there. But I would take the wife and kids to Ruttles for a meal for sure.

Take me back to the original Flying Burrito just west of campus. Those burritos were massive and delicious. Seemed to go down a bit in quality when it moved to Welch and sadly they closed down a few years ago.

Runner up vote would be Cocost. A massive plate of Lo Mein noodles that would last me 2 meals and only set me back $5. Stingy owner made you pay for the styrofoam water cups though.

What was the breakfast place called right off of welch on lincoln way? it was between Jeffs pizza and Peoples.
Sounds about right. When they first opened it was only open late night through the morning. I remember stumbling in there for bacon and eggs at about 5 am one time on our long walk back to Freddy from the apartments near West Towne Pub. Good times!
Angie’s Kitchen was the late night/early morning breakfast. When, Iwan, the former owner of the Bali Satay House (which is the correct answer for the one restaurant to bring back) bought it, he turned it into Angie’s Cantina and added Mexican food, as well.

Did they get busted for selling underage? I remember them getting busted for bootlegging out at the stadium. They were selling cups for the kegs they had which is a no-no. They had to close down for a month or so. At that time we tailgated right near them in the S lots SW of the stadium.

They had to shut down for a full year. That’s when the rest of the bars got into
the Wednesday Buck Burger business. I don’t remember the exact pricing, but I could get a burger, fries, and pitcher of domestic at Paddy’s for under $10. It didn’t suck.

In speaking of restaurants, Country Kitchen that is, can’t remember if one was in Ames back in the day, but Boone had one like 25 years ago. What happen to them? I thought it was good restaurant.

Wasn't it where the Mongolian Buffet is now at the intersection of Duff and Highway 30? I remember the sign back in like 2004
