Favorite quote by him

"No one goes there nowadays, it’s too crowded."

I am old enough to remember him actually playing. Some today only know him as the character guy with the funny quotes. He was a beloved dude but also a really great player.

Always go to other people's funerals, otherwise they won't go to yours.

The numbers that these guys put up.

In 1950 Yogi hit .322, hit 28 home runs and struck out 12 times for the year.

My favorite Yogi game was after some passed balls they gave him a giant mitt to catch with. The mitt was like three by four foot wide.

I'm old enough to have actually seen him play.....on tv.....not in person. By the time I was going to Twins/Yankees games in Minnesota (my dad was a HUGE Yankee fan).....Yogi was coaching and later managing the Mets.

I think one of my favorite Yogi quotes or stories was when his wife asked him where he wanted to be buried......Yogi answered "Surprise me".

RIP Yogi....you had a great life!
