I was under the impression that P5 teams were not allowed/generally didn't participate in tournaments "beneath" the NIT.
Seems like an odd choice by them, but seeing this makes part of me wonder why we wouldn't have done something like this last year to get a young team some more game experience.

1st- you have to pay them $50,000 to be in it. 2nd- who were our young guys that would have gained from that experience? Wigginton, Lard and Lewis? Wigginton and Lard already had plenty of time under their belt. I suppose Lewis would have benefited a little maybe, but from 2-3 extra games?

We were so injured by the end of the year, it was best just to get it over with.

Way up there
I'm not sure but I don't think its a rule, it just seems as though p5 teams don't think its worth it. I'm pretty sure Oregon and Pitt won the CBI earlier this decade.

Pretty sure the announcers talked about this during the WVU games in the tourney. They quoted Huggins as saying they just wanted to keep playing regardless of tournament due to all the young kids and the amount of change during the year.

It's essentially being treated as a scrimmage for the freshman heavy team. Down 4 from the start of the season due to being kicked off/transfer (Ahmad, Harris, Bolden, Doomes) and we expect maybe 1 more after the conclusion of this tournament.

It helped that a basketball booster paid the $50,000 fee. WV got 5,300 in the Coliseum last night charging $10 a ticket. We'll at least make some money on this thing.

West Virginia is getting blown out at home to Costal Carolina. 84 points they’ve given up and there’s 11 min left.

Yikes. You have to wonder what a Power 5 team motivation is going to be playing tiny schools.
