Oh, I totally agree that the program will get better and more intense under Cael, but I would like some of Bobby's guys to show us something.

And, there we have it, another Sanderson putting up points for ISU. Gotta love that. But, after this one, we'll have to wait for their offspring to come through the system!

Yeah what the hell?!?! No. 1 Paulson losing to a redshirt freshman? You've got to be kidding me. Morningstar is good, don't get me wrong, but beating No. 1/2? What is wrong w/ us?

There will be better days, but this is one that ISU players and fans should have stayed in bed... yikes...

Watching that last match, it almost seemed as if Paulson wasn't feeling that well cause he wasn't agressive as usual. EIU definitely showed up to wrestle that is for sure.....

At least we didn't get throttled by the Hawks in Wrestling and lose to Drake in Basketball.

Oh, wait...damn!

Went to the meet . . . horrible watching Paulson get beat. The Hawks really made some noise. Of course, Backes and Paulson's losses were absolutely shocking, but no one really wrestled very well.

Very disappointing and I hope this isn't the level that we finish the season at.

i wanna know where our wrestling team was today becuase they def. weren't in Iowa City wrestling. This is horrible. We have a great team and some of the upsets I saw were mind boggling. I don't know how a team like us looses that bad to Iowa. Iowa is good but we have a great team too

Can anyone who saw the match describe Cael's coaching style/ presence? Does he yell a lot? Quieter? Did he seem angry and disappointed at the loss?

While disappointed in the match, I'm real pumped to see these two teams go head to head in the next few years. I've got all kinds of faith that Cael will make the Cyclones into a hard-nosed, gritty team that will contend for National titles. Having said that, I have tremendous respect for Brands. Fast forward to 2008--I can see these two teams being 1, 2 (with ISU #1, obviously)!

The final score was a bit misleading, as 5 of Iowa's 8 wins were by two points or less. A good match, and the home edge seemed to play out.

While watching it, and I posted this on the Iowa boards, I felt Iowa got favorable calls in the Perry and Erekson matches.

Definitely, Those two were lucky that they didn't get the stalling calls a bit sooner because they could have been disqualified. I was upset to see any wrestler in the state of Iowa get stalling calls like that, this isn't Okie State. Varner definitely deserved the warning but the point for stalling was a bit questionable. Not to say that the ref stole the meet though, the Hawks totally clobbered us in spirit.

i think trent paulson and backes both overlooked their opponents and backes in particular was taking stupid risks knowing that isu probably needed bonus points out of him. on a side note, in an article in the register dan mccool mentioned reader possibly wrestling at 165...is this actually a possibility having reader at 165 and travis paulson at 174? i know we don't want to burn a year on reader but would this drastically help our lineup?

Wasn't paying careful attention, but he didn't seem extremely active or anything. Definitely wasn't yelling and jumping up and down during the matches. The two assistants, one of which is Cody Sanderson, were much more active with the wrestlers directly before/after their matches. Bobby Douglas did not stand up the entire meet. The other coach who's name I can't remember got in a fight with Gable, who can barely walk.
