Anonymous donor couple. Wow.

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State University announces a gift expected to transform key academic programs at the university. The donation is an equity stake representing majority ownership of Curriculum Associates, LLC, an education company headquartered in Billerica, Massachusetts, to the Iowa State University Foundation.

The gift is currently valued at approximately $93 million, making it one of the largest in Iowa State’s history. The majority interest is being donated under a structure similar to nonvoting shares of stock. It is expected that the equity interest will be sold through a management-led sale of the company that will be directed by Curriculum Associates’ second largest equity holder, CEO Rob Waldron. The final valuation of this tremendous gift will depend on market considerations at the time the sale occurs.

Not sure how they really expected to be anonymous. If you donate equity in a small company that doesn't have a significant Iowa State presence it will be easy to figure out.

The difference is not wanting all sorts of official recognition etc and awards and pontificating that goes with some of that. Some people like to be a low key and are doing it because they love a cause and have the means to assist while others want to spout off about how they gave $xx to such and such and want to be "loved" to death for it.

Let's wait until the check clears before we can celebrate. Should have cashed it immediately at one of those payday loan places.

God bless those donors. Now the Iowa legislature needs to grow a pair and make the state funding fair. Unbelievable that the state funding per ISU in state student has decreased several thousand per year while the enrollment increases. Chicago Western U is making it as difficult as possible for the change since they benefiting greatly from the current system.
