At 26-5 Ark would be 4 seed or higher with that schedule (unless more than half of those losses were awful).

In my previous post I mis-counted total games (I had 30 instead of 31 -- schedule I referenced must have been missing a team...)

I think so. I'd like to see 24-7 or 25-6 with a win at UK/UF/or ISU. I think that would be a very positive step in the right direction.

What's your expectation record wise?

It all starts with 6 '10 Soph big man Bobby Portis. His rebounding improved throughout his freshman campaign and he can score in a plethora of ways -- off of the offensive glass, in transition, and he's got a good mid range jumper and a solid three ball.

Michael Qualls is among the most exciting players in the country to watch if you enjoy a Dominique Wilkins type highlight show above the rim. I believe he had five SC top ten dunks last year.

Rashard Madden is the other of our "big three," if you will. He's a combo guard with a good three point shot and an ability to run. He's not a true PG but has been sort of forced into that role.

Anthlon Bell is a wing man who really showed a lot of improvement from year one to year two. He's primarily a three point specialist and can be hot and cold, but he's always got the green light.

I'm excited about Soph Moses Kingsley, an athletic and long-armed 6-11 center who specializes in shot blocking. He averaged less than 5 points per game but was among the SEC's best shot blockers last season despite limited playing time. A lot of serious Razorback fans are very excited about his upside, but you may not read a lot about him in media previews.

Your bigs better feel comfortable guarding players in isolation at the three point line.

Welcome, RazorbackinKC.

The Arkansas home game is undoubtedly the most exciting non-conference home game on ISU's schedule, IMO. I think they'll be solid too; probably a tourney team.

Plus, I have a special affinity for schools that support their basketball well and Arkansas still does that pretty well. Now, Bud Walton Arena isn't sold out every game like it once was, but I think they still get 15,000 plus if memory serves me and compared to the rest of the SEC, they support the Hogs very well. Only Kentucky and Tennessee average more fans last I looked. For those reasons, I've always kind of liked Arkansas.

That, and the 40 minutes of H-E-L-L press and run style they pioneered under Richardson. I remember pulling for those 90s teams in the tourney with Corliss Williamson and Darnell Robinson. They were pretty fun to watch.

Prediction: close game, but the Cyclones pull away late for a 92 to 85 barn burner.

Edit: I also think the "Pig Sooie" chant is one of the most unique chants in college sports and I enjoy that kind of stuff. Does this mean ISU plays at Arkansas in the 2015 to 2016 season?

I'm in the 23-7/13-5 Big 12 & 3 seed range for expectations — I'm a little on the "cautious" side among Cyclone Fanatics:

10:00 pig tears confirmed.:v_SPIN:

I don't take basketball that seriously. If we play ISU tough on the road I'll leave without being too upset. It'll help prepare us for games in at Kentucky and Florida which are ultimately more important anyway as conference games.

That being said, a win in Ames would be huge.

Hey guys,

just wanted to share Arkansas's Athlon preview as we continue to look forward to basketball season and our Dec. 4 matchup.

Arkansas kicks off our top 25 countdown at No. 25 as we preview the Razorbacks in what they hope is a breakout season under Mike Anderson.

After leading the team in scoring (12.7 ppg) and assists (2.8 apg), Madden should benefit from the addition of point guards Jabril Durham and Anton Beard to allow him to play off the ball more.

Qualls was a SportsCenter regular with a variety of circus dunks, but the Hogs hope his jumper earns him more notoriety this year. Qualls had a horrendous shooting slump to open SEC play and wound up shooting 42.9 percent overall. Bell, a streaky shooter, launched a team-high 151 3-pointers and shot 33.1 percent beyond the arc, a number that must improve for the junior to merit increased playing time. His defense is just adequate.

ISU will have to wait a while for it's athlon preview to come out if they are only releasing one a day.

Nice writeup. I am starting to get excited! I do love football, but I can't stop thinking about Hilton Magic this year. It is nice that we are playing some quality teams, like Arkansas, that we haven't played before or in quite a while. As we continue to do really well I hope that success continues to open up the opportunity of having more home and home with quality big name non-con opponents. Such a wonderful excitement and energy surrounding this program right now. Glad you are going to get to experience the magic razor. It should be a doozy!!
