Is this going to end up like Lakes' NDSU thread?

No because this guy didn't start out this thread like this:

Lets get it pumped up around, we are exactly 9 months away!
Lets get this fat girl thread pregnant and in 9 months you can bow down to NDSU!

but for realsies, please cheer for NDSU on 1/4 1pm on ESPN 2 as NDSU goes for its 3rd straight title!

Thanks! Lakes OUT .

True. It just seems no one goes tailgating for basketball games anymore. The most "tailgating" for bball ive done in the last 4 years is 1. Bars 2. Drink in my apt 3. Sit in truck in parking lot with dad and slam beers (my favorite)

Football just seems to have the better tailgating atmosphere. The KU game last year was insanely cold and we were out there at 11 am. Probably the most fun i had before a game last year as well

I agree with this. Best time I've had tailgating (a basketball game) was me and a buddy getting a 6er of tall boys and creating a tall boy holocaust on the floorboard. As for food/bars, Es Tas in Campustown has great tacos and good drink specials, but is usually filled with frat boys. If you're looking for something a bit older Whiskey is a good time, and is right across from a decent pool hall. It's in downtown Ames. Unfortunately there aren't any bars in what I would consider "walking distance", especially in December.

My suggestion would be to get to Hilton early, have a few beers in your car while listening to the pregame, then head in at least a half hour early to catch the atmosphere. Even though it'll be December, treat yourself to a Clone Cone. Then sit back (or stand), relax, and let the Hilton Magic wash over you.

Hey y'all, I am here to learn more about ISU's 2014-2015 team and to answer any questions that you might have about the Razorbacks.

I went to undergrad at the U of A and have been a season ticket holder/fan since I was a small child. When I was eight years old we played in the Final Four. When I was ten we won our lone national title against Grant Hill's Duke (1994), and when I was eleven we lost in the National Title game to the O'Bannon brothers and UCLA. We've been on a steady decline until now.

Fast forward to 2014. We're still not quite there yet but we expect to be a tourney team this year and potentially crack the top 25. I am really excited to have such a quality non conference road matchup, even if we don't pull the upset it is going to really help prepare us for conference play where we have struggled mightily on the road -- we get both Florida and Kentucky away from home this year (although we did sweep UK last year and took UF to overtime).

Anyway, I'd love to get some perspective from the home crowd here. What are your prospects? Who do you return? Who graduated? What new players are expected to make an impact?

Finally, what is there to do in Ames? I would appreciate restaurant, bar, and tailgating suggestions.

Good luck destroying the Big XII this year. I just don't know much beyond Ejim, Kane, and that Georges kid (one of my favorite players last year).

Wooo Pig Sooie! Looking forward to it. I hope that some of you are able to make it to the game in Fayetteville in 2015.

Welcome! Sorry, but our Cyclone basketball team wont be as generous when they beat down your Razorbacks. Hope your visit in Ames will be a pleasant one.

Your post was polite and all so you don't deserve this but. The following game tailgating will most likely feature free BBQ pork (pig for the non-Iowans) sandwiches.

Woo Pig Sooie is the dumbest cheer in college sports.

Seriously though, look forward to discussing the game with you, you seem fairly reasonable about your team.

So did a lot of us. The guys did well against UNC without Georges, and almost made it back enough in the second half to take UConn. Home court advantage to UConn & 1/3 of our major attack force out of the game...they just couldn't quite pull it off.

Thanks for ruining my Friday evening. I'd almost gotten over it. Give 'em five more minutes in that game and maybe one or two stinking missed free throws from UCONN and it's a different outcome.

Slamming beers with dad in the truck. Now that's a great tradition!

No way, I love it. Takes balls to have a pig as your mascot. It's about a million times better than "go tigers or geaux tigers"...

I know 2 things about this game:
1) It will be a track meet and high scoring.
2) Hilton will be rocking.

Welcome to the board! I was actually talking about this game with some Razorback fans in the office today. They're pretty pumped about playing the Cyclones and we're definitely talking about finding tickets next year when the Cyclones come to town (I'll have to sit with my fellow Clone fans though)

Arkansas will be a tougher game than a lot of people think. If I remember correctly, they like to play fast too so it should be a high scoring, entertaining game. I'm interested to see what Babb's little brother looks like

The last time I was in Arkansas you had 12 players on the field to score the winning touchdown against us. To even things up we will be playing 6 against your 5. I can still hear the hit Matt Blair put on your running back.
Yes I'm old and carry grudges a long time.

We don't expect him to get a ton of playing time as a freshman. He's going to be competing with Rashard Madden (one of our team leaders) and Anthlon Bell (streaky three point specialist who has scored 30+ on multiple occasions).

That said, Madden MIGHT be starting at PG, although we expect to see Juco transfer Jabril Durham (21 ppg/5rpg/5apg, Seminole St -- offers from Okie St, Marquette, A&M) OR Anton Beard (true freshman 4*/3* who de committed from Mizzou to come to Arkansas).

Bottom line, the guard positions are gonna be crowded. However, we can play 3-4 guards at times. Babb should see the court but I would be surprised to see him get a lot of PT as a freshman.
