Broadcast guys did alright.

The Winona State University women's basketball team has been tabbed seventh overall and fourth in the South Division with the release of the 2018 NSIC women's basketball preseason coaches' poll. This is their first exhibition game. The 2017-18 squad raced out to a 13-1 start before hitting a skid midway through the season. The Warriors concluded the year 17-13 (10-12 NSIC), marking just the second time since Coach Scott Ballard's sophomore campaign that WSU went below .500 in conference play. However, the Warriors rallied in the NSIC Tournament, reaching the championship game before their season came to an end. CBF will likely experiment with lineups again and protect his players. Hoping for improved shooting % as we lose early nerves.

Fingers crossed that the intro music last time and today was just filler until the real season begins. It is plain awful and does nothing to rev up the crowd or players.
If the powers that make these choices are confident in their decisions, let’s use it for MBB, too.

Glad they called off the dogs a little on the 3/4 court pressure. This is a Div II team that hasn't played yet this year. Good to practice that pressure but maybe gets to a point of diminishing returns against an overmatched opponent.

Considering exhibition and all, not too much to seriously comment on, however these all merit smiley faces:
  • Wise: Scoring
  • Middleton: Some really nice assists
  • Scott: More rebounding, 5 in 10 minutes.

I like the fact that were working on developing the press, it's not fully there yet but glad to see it .
I'm liking what were seeing out of Scott in these exhibition games, hoping she has a big step up from her freshman season

Also.. Don't take this wrong CW, but can't wait until we get Blum and Molly for a game. Nothing wrong with CW about I like having Molly do the color.

Might be rough for a while , but the future middle seems in good hands with Scott and Kane. Between them, Mer and Ines we should be okay this year.

Agreed. I really like Molly.

Also, not sure why Bridget plays all of the first half and half of the third quarter. This is an exhibition...I'd like to see some of the newcomers get a bit more playing time than the pre-season AA.

Kane and Frederick are planning on redshirting according to the Ames Trib. Guessing it is just a numbers game with only so many minutes to go around.

BF said in the postgame that they discussed redshirting with both and their families, and both thought it would be a plus for their education to get a fifth year. And lots more PT available after this group of seniors graduate. Both have shown in normal year they would be in the rotation, I think. The future so bright...
