Nothing this is only a my generation is better than your generation. And this whole CoC thing...

funny thing is that i actually agree with you, but we can't do anything about it until cyclone alley gets that we are not a high school student section and were in college. I don't even understand the point of cyclone alley. I know they say they put things on during the game and give out props. but honestly i can go with out all those stupid gimicks to bring Hilton magic back. I don't see Kansas or Duke doing hamburger races during EVERY single game.

Best post of the thread right here.

How hard is it to think of three of ideas (Burger race, Knockout, and give out props) and use those 3 ideas for multiple years??

You got it..things really have'nt changed since I was in school. Someone thinks that president of X-club (Cyclone Alley) will look sweet on their resume.

The school likes it because they can get a couple of yes men to police their peers. Its a win-win for the university.

Just have fun, question people when they say you must do this. And yell like hell.

Do you guys need some cheese to go along with all of your "WHINE"?? Sheesh. You guys claim to be in college and that you should be treated like college students, but man, listening to you whine about something is like listening to a bunch of... well... HIGH SCHOOLERS!

The CoC that you guys think is so stupid is basically something to cover CA's rear end, and puts liability on the students and not CA by having them agree to this. It's pretty much the same thing that the Big 12 and NCAA say about sportsmanship. Don't like sportsmanship? Then go to hockey or something. Just so I don't have to keep reading all of this WHINING!!

I was in CA the last two years. Guess what, I drank before the games, sat in the first 3 rows, and heckled the opposing team and no one ever said a thing to me.

I think everyone is jumping off the cliff after Tuesday's loss. Haven't been to a game in years, but it seems I always hear, "Hilton Magic just isn't the same." I hope that's not true. We are only 4 games into the season, and we are 2-2. I don't think it's time to slit wrists, cancel Cyclone Alley and reengineer GMac's whole gameplan to building a good basketball team. Who realistically thought we'd be undefeated? Who realistically thought we'd have a sold out game when the students are gone?

I don't want to criticize Cyclone Alley too much because I think the intentions of the vast majority of people involved are good...BUT, we managed to create one of the best homecourt atmospheres in the nation without resorting to gimmicks like that in the past, why do we need them now?

Also, I think cycloneworld hit the nail on the head. Cyclone basketball has been pretty much nothing but frustration since the 2001 Big 12 tournament and it's easy to get frustrated. I try to tell myself to be patient and that maybe this time we'll actually be as good as people say we will be in a few years but when you are still watching bad basketball that seems like a long way off.

The students are trying hard, but the student section has never been the same since the invention of CA.....

Probably has more to do with the product.

First off, let me say I would love to be winning now, as I believe every other clone fan out there would too, and I go into every game hoping to win and convincing myself in my head that we have a good shot whether we really do or not. But...
When GMac took this job he said, "If you want a quick fix, you've got the wrong guy." Very few people objected to that comment when he made it, but now a good number of people are acting like McDermott isn't getting it done because of FOUR GAMES in his SECOND SEASON with an injury depleted roster of youth.
I VERY rarely make excuses, and I hate doing it, but the facts are, Lucca Staiger and Wesley Johnson are absolutely crucial to the success of this year's team...for the Bradley game and the Minnesota game, we went up against two very physical, experienced teams, and we did it with a bunch of freshmen and guys that came in as walk-ons, but were forced to play because of injuries and bogus NCAA rulings...I very much wanted to beat Bradley and Minnesota too, but it's absolutely rediculous to meltdown and throw a fit because we lost those two close games, when we were countering McKenzie, Tollackson, and Coleman with guys like Petersen, Haluska, Boozer and Garrett. Seriously people...
This is NOT going to be a quick fix...it sure as heck does look good for the future though. But... Garrett, Brackins, and (hopefully) Staiger are going to take more than four games to figure out how to play Big 12 caliber basketball (especially defense), and I would hope people would realize that, as opposed to flipping out when we lose to a physical, senior led fundamental team...Add those three players, plus Wesley Johnson, and add muscle and knowledge of the game, and you should see some special things down the road........if you don't jump off the bandwagon first because you think we should be competing with Kansas for a title this season.

Seriously no one is saying we should compete with Kansas, and I am not even really that upset we lost to Minnesota or the other loss either. What I am upset about is we start over EVERY SINGLE year lately and the players seem to lack basic fundamentals which certainly will come but also lack the instinct to ATTACK the hoop. We are a big12 school and should be able to recruit big12 talent but we are always losing out to the MVC??? I just don't get how UNI, Bradley, Creighton, etc can continue to have better recruits more able to compete with our conference than we can. Our big guys have been slow and undersized since Homan...can we get a post (this is as annoying as not having a kicker for the last 10 years. And don't get me wrong I am hopeful this turns around but we won't have decent guards for 2 years (those coming in won't be great their first year either) and we will probably still be looking for a big12 size post.

So you think Garrett and Staiger aren't big 12 quality recruits??? Wow. You do know that they are both freshmen right?...and very highly touted freshmen. And that McDermott only had a couple of months to round up our backcourt recruits last year? Our recruiting class this year is much better than UNI, Bradley, and Creighton's, and last year's was put together in hardly no time at all (and we still got Wesley Johnson), so how in the world do you say we are always getting beat out by the MVC? And as far as us not being able to get a post since Homan...the most hyped up post in ISU history other than Marcus Fizer is a freshman this year (Brackins), so I have no idea what you are talking about there...

Good points Clone_12. Also let remember how much fun it was to watch Homan year after year as he kept getting better.
Time.... it all take time. It sucks we can't just run into the Sweet16, but we must keep our head on straight.

I agree Kyro, everyone wants to win every game, and losing is frustrating...but to say we're starting over every year when a coach is in his second year (and his first year's recruiting class was put together in a month and a half) is just flat-out dumb...not to mention ripping on us for getting beat out on recruits by MVC teams when our current class has Staiger, Garrett, and Brackins. I can see why coaches stay away from message boards with the garbage and uneducated opinions that I've seen on here the last couple of days...Yikes!
